Giving away the body and what is related to the body. If those limbs are incomplete, they should be degraded accordingly. The downfall of the preparatory act is a minor offense: as long as one undertakes the preparatory act of giving to the naked ascetics, until one has not reached the actual giving, it is a minor offense. For the actual giving, for each different preparatory act one undertakes, there is a minor offense. For what is not the five foods and five drinks, there is a minor offense. For food that is unsuitable for oneself and them, there is a minor offense. Causing others to give, there is a minor offense. Making a verbal promise oneself, there is a minor offense. Placing the body or what is related to it elsewhere in a distributive manner, there is a minor offense. For non-Buddhist heretics other than naked ascetics, there is a minor offense. The downfall of the preparatory act of the preparatory act is a minor offense: as many preparatory acts as there are, so many preparatory acts of the preparatory act there are; the preparatory act of the minor offense of the preparatory act is also a minor offense; it is a minor offense. There is no downfall if these signs and this ordination are present. There is no downfall in regard to relatives and the ordained, and the manner of seeing the sick and the sinful, and those who wish to separate. If food is made into pieces and given, there is no downfall in causing others to give. There is no downfall in causing others to place it with the same intention as an outcast. There is no downfall for those who are beginners, mad, mentally disturbed, and afflicted by feelings. What is to be learned is that a bhikshu should learn not to rely on any of the things that lead to the downfall of giving to the naked ascetics in all places and at all times; one should abandon being unenthusiastic, not engaging, and acting without examination. The remedy is the same as before. The downfall of giving to the naked ascetics, the forty-fourth, is finished. The basis of the downfall of watching an army is that the Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Shravasti, in Jeta Grove, in Anathapindika's monastery. King Prasenajit of Kosala overturned a mountain cliff and sent a troop there, and after destroying and thoroughly destroying it, they returned. A second and third troop were sent, and they also returned after destroying and thoroughly destroying it. King Prasenajit of Kosala said, "In my war

He ordered an announcement to be made that all those who lived by weapons should leave. The king, together with his fourfold army, went to see the Blessed One. The Six Groups of monks said, 'Let's go and see what the fourfold army of King Suddhodana of Kapilavastu is like.' They dug pits on the road and sat down. After a while, King Pasenadi of Kosala came with his fourfold army, and the Six Groups of monks said to them, 'Wise men, where are you going?' They said, 'We are going to help King Pasenadi of Kosala to subdue the rebellious Rohini.' The Six Groups of monks said, 'You poor wretches, can such an army as this subdue Rohini? Your elephants are like pigs, but the elephants of Rohini are like piled-up mountains. Your horses are like donkeys, but the horses of Rohini are like baby elephants. Your chariots are like broken-down carts, but the chariots of Rohini are like palaces. Your men are like grass, but the men of Rohini are like fierce yakshas. You will go and never return. Go back now and give sesame water to your parents, and then die there!' Hearing these words, they were all afraid and dared not move. After a while, King Pasenadi of Kosala came and said, 'Why are you not going? Why are you all afraid and dare not move?' They said, 'O King, we are afraid that we will be defeated. These shaven-headed monks, wearing large cloths and carrying bowls, say that we cannot do it.' The king asked, 'Who are they?' They replied, 'The Six Groups of monks.' The king said, 'Wise men, they are just rogue monks.' They said, 'What harm do they do to you? Go on!' King Pasenadi of Kosala thought, 'These people will offend me again and again.' So he sent a messenger to the Buddha to inquire about his health, and reported, 'Venerable Sir, these monks go to see the army going out to battle. Alas! For the sake of compassion, the Blessed One should make some rule so that the monks will not go to see the army going out to battle.'
