That is summarized by the times of morning and afternoon. The things that sustain life are: roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, resins, transformatives, salts, medicinal juices, and poisons, which are not commonly used for the purpose of food. Among them, roots are licorice, gentian, turmeric, sweet flag, white calamus, and so on. Stems are sandalwood, bodhi tree, fir tree, rhododendron, oak tree, jujube, and so on. Leaves are vasaka, bitter gourd, trichosanthes, neem, saptaparna leaves, and so on. Flowers are vasaka, neem, dhataki, naga tree, lotus stamens, and so on. Fruits are haritaki, amalaki, bibhitaki, nepali pepper, pippali, and so on. Resins are myrrh, frankincense, benzoin, beeswax, pine resin, and so on. Transformatives are sesame, benzoin tree, turmeric, barley, barley bran, vasaka, ash transformatives, and so on. Salts are rock salt, potassium salt, red salt, sea salt, alkaline salt, and so on. Medicinal juices are mango tree, neem, bitter gourd, acacia tree, jambu tree, and other tree juices. Poisons are the feces and urine of young animals that live on milk, gum, kapittha, ashvattha, udumbara, nyagrodha ashes, and so on, and earth dug from four fingers below the ground. The blessing ritual and mantra for medicines that sustain life are: Those medicines that sustain life, no matter which wise person who has not taken the bhikshu vows, should prepare and collect them on suitable ground, and then things that can be eaten or cannot be eaten, such as those taken by hand, cooked inside, simmered in oil inside, cooked by a bhikshu, etc., should not be mixed together, and the sick bhikshu should also wash his hands in the morning before giving and receiving. The bhikshu who has taken the bhikshu vows, abiding in his own nature, in accordance with the same view and discipline, sits kneeling in front of someone who is staying inside the boundary, with two bowls or medicine containers in the palms of his hands.

Place it aside, cover it from above with the right hand, and the patient should say the following words: Venerable ones, please listen. I, a monk named so-and-so, these medicines that I hold to sustain my life, in order to make me and those who practice Brahmacharya equally enjoy them, to hold them for the sake of sustaining life, please bless them. Recite three times. After that, the listener should say, "It is expedient." The patient should also say, "Good." From then on, I, sleeping, until the end of my life, or until those medicines are used up, without breaking the blessing and acceptance, I will use and eat them myself. A monk who is not sick cannot bless the medicines he holds to sustain his life, nor can he eat what others have blessed. When he recovers, if he begs for the sake of the patient, he should give. If there is no beggar, it should be placed in the monastery's pharmacy. In the places of the patrons, no monk should reside, abandoning certain places on the side of the temple, because it is not a monk's place, there is no fault of staying overnight and cooking inside. In an empty temple, if a monk stays for a few nights, although it is a monk's place, if that monk leaves from there, it is not a monk's place, so there is no fault of staying overnight due to illness and cooking due to illness. There is no fault in the patron placing overnight food in an unsuitable place and offering cooked food. Staying overnight within the seed boundary and planting outside the boundary, whatever grows from there, such as roots, sprouts, and fruits, is not staying overnight inside, and cooking there is not cooking inside, so there is no fault. The fire used for cooking burns inside the boundary, while the food to be cooked is outside the boundary, so cooking is not cooking inside, so there is no fault. The flame is like the sky, so roasting on a flame burning inside the boundary is not cooking inside, so there is no fault. Some of the flames burning inside the boundary burn
