If food is suitable, eating what has been abandoned due to time becomes the basis for committing a downfall. A bhikkhu has already eaten and abandoned the food, and even the one who causes the downfall knows this. If one eats with hesitation, there is no fault. There is no fault for the bhikkhu himself. There is no fault for what has not been left over. There is no fault for any suitable food that belongs to the five edible foods and the five drinkable foods. There is no fault for eating due to time. There is no fault for eating due to a pure appearance. There is no fault whether others accept it or not. The agent of this is the abandonment of food itself, and the one who mainly recognizes what has not been left over. In this case, the five limbs become the root downfall: the bhikkhu abandons the food itself, and what has not been left over, and knows this, and the food is suitable for the time and is eaten. If these limbs are not complete, there is a fault accordingly. The downfall of the preparation is a misdeed. As long as one begins the preparation for eating what has been abandoned, until one does not reach the root, it is a misdeed. For each different preparation made for the root, there is a misdeed. For what is not the abandonment of food itself, and what is not the absence of leftovers, but one thinks it is the abandonment of food itself and the absence of leftovers, and eats with hesitation, it is a misdeed. For unsuitable food, it is a misdeed. For a fallen bhikkhu and a non-attached bhikkhu, it is a misdeed. For a fallen bhikkhu and a non-attached bhikkhu, it is a misdeed. For a bhikkhuni, it is a misdeed. Eating through messengers and letters is a misdeed. The downfall of the preparation of the preparation is a subtle misdeed. As many preparations as there are, there are as many preparations of the preparation. The preparation of the misdeed of the preparation is also a misdeed, which is a subtle misdeed. There is no downfall for not abandoning food itself. There is no downfall for not leaving anything over. There is no downfall for not knowing this. There is no downfall for what does not need to be left over, is suitable for timely eating, and is kept for seven days, and is held for life, and is suitable at any time. There is no downfall for food that has not been requested. For beginners and the insane,

And, there is no falling into danger from being threatened by mental disturbances and feelings. What should be learned is that a Bhikshu should not rely on any form of power that leads to downfall in all places and at all times, but should learn to abandon it. Do not commit evil deeds. Do not seek faults. The remedy is the same as before. The thirty-fifth transgression concerning the power of abandonment has been explained. The basis for the transgression of gathering and eating is twofold: due to enactment and permission. The basis for the enactment is that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was residing in the Kalanda bird sanctuary in the grove of light in Rajagriha (Royal City). At that time, when Devadatta and many Bhikshus were gathering and eating food together in the monastery, some Bhikshus with few desires rebuked them, saying: Why do the Bhikshus gather and eat food in the monastery? They accused, mocked, and insulted them. At that time, the Bhikshus reported this matter to the Bhagavan. Then, because of this event, this basis, and this situation, the Bhagavan convened the Bhikshu Sangha and rebuked Devadatta, saying: This is not the conduct of a Shramana, it is not in accordance, it is not appropriate, it is not in accordance with the rules, this is not something that a renunciate should do. He rebuked him in various ways, and having fully seen the ten benefits of establishing precepts, he said: My Shravaka disciples should recite and learn this root of discipline in this way: gathering and eating is a transgression. Thus, the precept was established. The place was Rajagriha. The person was Devadatta and his retinue. The affliction was discordant desire. The offense was gathering and eating. The basis for permission is that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was residing in the Kalanda bird sanctuary in the grove of light in Rajagriha. Many sick Bhikshus went to visit a doctor and said: O virtuous one, please give us medicine. The doctor said: O noble ones, who will offer you food? Who will give alms? I said: I will offer. Is it to the entire Sangha? No, only to the sick Bhikshus. O virtuous one, the Bhagavan has established the precept of gathering and eating. O noble ones, your teacher is compassionate, so
