A downfall is a minor offense. As many combinations as there are, so many combinations there are. A combination is an offense of a combination of offenses, that is, a minor offense. There is no downfall; a sick monk has no downfall. There is no downfall for a donor who offers clothes. The dwelling is of this religion and not of other heretics, there is no downfall. There is no downfall for dwelling and eating on the first day. There is no downfall for the first worker, and for the madman, the disturbed mind, and those afflicted by feelings. What is to be learned is that a monk, in all places and at all times, should not rely on all forms that become the cause of downfall for eating in a dwelling, and should learn. A monk who teaches the Dharma should hold a time-measuring device. The remedy is as before. The thirty-second downfall of eating in a dwelling has been explained. The basis for the downfall of taking more than three bowlfuls is twofold due to the cause of occurrence, etc. The basis of the extraction is that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. When merchants of common interest arrived in Shravasti from the north, the Six Groups of monks heard and said: Good friends, dear ones, we have heard that merchants of common interest have arrived in Shravasti from the north. If we can gain a little, it is possible, let's go. If they say: Please give some food. We should say: How much is enough. If they say: Please give a piece of clothing. Let's accept it. So they went. After teaching the Dharma to those merchants, those who were overjoyed said: Please beg for alms here. The Six Groups of monks said: Good people, how much is enough? They said this, not eating, coming there again and again, saying such words. At another time, those merchants, because there was no grass for the cattle there, went to a cliff to graze the cattle. The Six Groups of monks chased after them, searching. They also went there and taught them the Dharma. Those who were overjoyed said: Please beg for alms here. The Six Groups of monks said: Good people, how much is enough? The caravan leader said:

O wise ones, the noble ones have repeatedly said that it is enough to be full. But these do not have clothes, certainly not. Clothes should be given to these. Let it be done that way. They dressed each of the six groups of monks in clothes that looked like the color of worms. Then the six groups of monks said: O six virtuous groups, to whom do you repeatedly beg for alms? What kind of alms are you giving? One of the six groups of monks took a bowl that looked like a large container placed on a stove, exceeding the limit, as large as a stove, and said: Pour it here. Those merchants thought: This container is so large, if it is filled, all of these people's stomachs will be full, and they will receive such food. So they filled the container with the food they had for the road and offered it. The six groups of monks also did the same, and in the end, each of them took a bowl that looked like a stove, and when those merchants filled six containers that looked like stoves with the food they had for the road and offered them, all their food for the road was used up. They said: O noble ones, we have a small amount of remaining food here, we will give it all to you, and we will entrust these coins to this person, and let him go to Shravasti with the noble ones. May the noble ones convert our remaining food into money, and send it to us with interest. O virtuous ones, let it be done that way. The six groups of monks took the merchant's man with the money to the temple in Shravasti, and used that man completely for the common and individual tasks of the six groups of monks, until the sun went down. After that, they let him go and said: Now you buy your own food for the road and go. That poor man bought his own food for the road and went with the noble ones, and when he reached the border of Shravasti, he was robbed by thieves. He walked alone among his companions. Those people asked: What did you bring? He said: I didn't bring anything. Why? He was robbed by thieves. Those people said: Didn't the noble ones give you travel expenses? He said: O wise ones, they did give me travel expenses, but...
