When different patrons invite one to food belonging to the five kinds of food, it is permissible to invite at the same time or to invite at different times. If invited at the same time, then whichever the bhikshu thinks to eat first is the first invitation, and whichever he thinks to eat later is the later invitation. If invited at different times, then whichever patron invites first is the first invitation, and whichever patron invites later is the later invitation. Among these, there is no fault if the first and later invitations are on the same day. There is no fault with different patrons. There is no fault if both the first and later invitations belong to any of the five kinds of food. There is no fault in eating the first invitation and then eating the later invitation. There is no fault if the first invitation has gain of robes or the value of robes, or does not have it, but the later invitation does not have gain of robes or the value of robes. Here, the limit of robes is a piece of permissible cloth, one cubit in extent. There is no fault with impermissible cloth, or permissible cloth smaller than one cubit, or the value equivalent to that. The actors here are: both invitations are on the same day, different patrons, the gain belongs to one of the five kinds of food, the bhikshu is sick, working, and not traveling on the road, and the later invitation does not have gain of robes or the value of robes. If these limbs are complete, it becomes a root downfall: the bhikshu is sick or working and not traveling on the road, both invitations are on the same day, different patrons invite to food belonging to one of the five kinds of food, the first invitation is eaten, the later invitation does not have gain of robes or the value of robes, and that later invitation is eaten. If these limbs are not complete, there are different faults accordingly. The preparatory downfall is an evil deed: as long as one begins the preparatory act of repeatedly eating that constitutes a downfall, until the root downfall is completed, it is an evil deed. For each different preparatory act performed in the root downfall, there is one evil deed. Accepting two invitations at the same time is an evil deed. After eating the first invitation, at the time of accepting the later invitation, one commits an evil deed. The preparatory act of the preparatory act is a subtle evil deed.

Oh, therefore, as many combinations as there are, so many are the combinations of combinations. The combination of combining offenses is also an offense, a minor offense. There is no transgression for a sick bhikshu, one who is working, or one who is on the road. There is no transgression if two invited people have different days. There is no transgression if the patron is the same. If one of the two invited people receives food that belongs to the five kinds of food, and the other receives other food that is not of that kind, there is no transgression. There is no transgression if the previous food has not been eaten. There is no transgression if the latter invited person has gains of clothing or the price of clothing. Here, the limit of clothing is the width of a suitable piece of cloth, and there is no transgression beyond that. The price of clothing is the merchandise of clothing, and there is no transgression for what is worth more than the width of a suitable piece of cloth. What is prepared is not the invited person, so there is no transgression. Its characteristic is that the food prepared by the donor for offering on one day, but not the usual food prepared, such as on festival days, several times. What is suddenly invited is not another invited person. General viewing is also not the invited person, so there is no transgression. Its characteristic is that approaching to view according to worldly terms or the power of friends is general viewing, so eating there by the invited person is also not another invited person. What is done by begging is also not the invited person, so there is no transgression. Its characteristic is that if someone with the intention of begging invites a bhikshu, and then that bhikshu goes to another invited place, what is eaten is not another invited person. Inviting an unsuitable person is also not the invited person, so there is no transgression. Its characteristic is that inviting what is not suitable to be eaten, such as what has not been given and received, and unclean meat, etc., is also not another invited person. What is invited not for that bhikshu but for the sangha as a whole is also not another invited person of that bhikshu, so there is no transgression.
