比丘友和地生两人，生生世世都有仇恨，这两人在南方的山中游历时，到了王舍城，这两人问一个比丘：具寿，僧团的住所分配者是谁？他说：具寿巨富。然后这两人到具寿巨富那里说：请给我们两人分配住所。当时，凡是好的住所都已分配给长老们，只剩下不好的了。寺庙也是，凡是近处的都已分配给长老们，只剩下边远的寺庙，于是具寿巨富给他们两人分配了不好的住所，寺庙也分配在边远的地方。这两人说：僧团里谁负责分配食物？具寿巨富说：我，巨富。给我们两人分配食物吧。具寿巨富第一天就把他们两人分配到乞讨食物的人中，婆罗门、施主和有信心的人问：明天谁会来我们这里做客？其他人说：友和地生两人。那些人想：这两人是恶趣的行者，谁会为了他们而恭敬呢？随便吃点什么就走吧，于是那些人没有恭敬他们两人，给了不好的食物。具寿巨富第二天把他们两人分配到中等的食物中，同样，婆罗门、施主和有信心的人问：明天谁会来我们这里做客？其他人说：友和地生两人。那些人想：这两人是恶趣的行者，谁会为了他们而恭敬呢？随便吃点什么就走吧，于是那些人没有恭敬他们两人，给了不好的食物。具寿巨富第三天就把他们两人分配到自然的坏食物中。

The two monks, Mitra and Bhūmija, had a grudge that had followed them through lifetimes. As they were traveling through the southern mountains, they arrived in Rajagriha. There, they asked a monk, "Venerable one, who is appointed to allocate the monastic dwellings?" He replied, "The venerable Gada-bhūti." Then, the two went to the venerable Gada-bhūti and said, "Please allocate dwellings for us two." At that time, all the good dwellings had already been allocated to the elder monks, leaving only the inferior ones. Similarly, all the monasteries that were nearby had been assigned to the elder monks, leaving only the remote monasteries. So, the venerable Gada-bhūti allocated the inferior dwellings to the two of them and assigned them to the remote monasteries. The two said, "Who is the one who allocates the food for the Sangha?" The venerable Gada-bhūti said, "I am, Gada-bhūti." "Allocate food for us two." On the first day, the venerable Gada-bhūti allocated them to those who were to receive alms-food. The Brahmins, householders, and faithful ones asked, "Who will come to our place as guests tomorrow?" Others said, "Mitra and Bhūmija." Those people thought, "These two are practitioners of evil ways, who would be respectful for their sake? Let them eat whatever and leave." So, they did not treat them with respect and gave them poor food. On the second day, the venerable Gada-bhūti allocated them to the recipients of middling food. Similarly, the Brahmins, householders, and faithful ones asked, "Who will come to our place as guests tomorrow?" Others said, "Mitra and Bhūmija." Those people thought, "These two are practitioners of evil ways, who would be respectful for their sake? Let them eat whatever and leave." So, they did not treat them with respect and gave them poor food. On the third day, the venerable Gada-bhūti allocated them to those who were naturally to receive poor food.

The venerable Great Wealth, knowingly and deliberately, has given us two bad lodgings, and with food that weakens us when eaten, and with extremely unpleasant and bad food, measuring it out three times, thinking, how shall we harm him? At that time, the sister of the two monks named Friend and Earth-born, the nun named Friend-girl, was residing in the royal city, in the nuns' summer retreat, in the king's pleasure garden. She went to pay homage to those two monks. Those two monks threatened their sister with a trick, saying: You go before the Blessed One, and report: The venerable Great Wealth has engaged in impure conduct with me, and has failed; this is neither beautiful nor proper. They made her falsely accuse him without any basis. Then, the two monks named Friend and Earth-born went before the Blessed One, and not long after, the nun Friend-girl also went before the Blessed One, and reported: Venerable One, here, this noble Great Wealth has engaged in impure conduct with me, and has failed; this is neither beautiful nor proper. The two monks named Friend and Earth-born also reported thus: Blessed One, it is indeed so. Well-gone One, it is indeed so, just as our two sisters have reported, so we also know. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Great Wealth: Great Wealth, have you heard? Blessed One, I have heard. Great Wealth, what do you think about this? Blessed One, I do not remember. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, you should keep the monk Great Wealth mindful. The nun Friend-girl, because she has admitted it herself, should be expelled. As for the two monks Friend and Earth-born, what have they not seen? How have they seen it? Where have they seen it? For what reason did you two arrive there, and therefore saw it there; you should discuss it thoroughly and well. Investigate it clearly. Having said this, the Blessed One arose from his seat and entered the inner chamber.
