It became depressing and uncomfortable. Whoever is inclined towards the evil realms, whoever relies on the evil realms, whoever is raised from the path of the evil realms, may they be placed in the heavens and liberation, and on the fruition. Whoever is sinking in the swamp of desire, may they be straightened. Whoever lacks the wealth of the noble ones, may they be placed in the dominion of the wealth of the noble ones. May the world adorned with the appearance of the Buddhas be made fruitful. Whoever has not generated roots of virtue, may they generate them. Whoever has generated roots of virtue, may they be fully ripened. Whoever has fully ripened, may they be liberated, thus knowing and seeing, he acts. Thus, the Blessed One, with the eye of a Buddha, observed the world and saw that in the city of Sin-byung, the lineage of the wealthy son Gyad-bu Nor was fully ripened and had made special offerings to the Buddhas of the past. Seeing that the time to tame him was like a ripe fruit waiting to be pierced by a sword, the Blessed One thought: Is he to be tamed temporarily by a teacher? Or is he to be tamed by a Shravaka? After thinking, he saw that he was to be tamed by a Shravaka. Through which door should he enter? Is he to be tamed by miracles? Or is he to be tamed by conduct? After thinking, he saw that he was to be tamed by conduct. The Blessed One, for those who could be tamed by conduct, sent the venerable Horse Tamer (rTa-thul), because his conduct would attract the sight and the minds of people. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Horse Tamer: Horse Tamer, you go to the city of Sin-byung and observe where the wealthy son Gyad-bu Nor is. Then, the venerable Horse Tamer, because he was to especially carry out the command of the Blessed One, after that very night had passed, in the early morning, put on his lower garment, took his bowl and robes, and entered the royal palace for alms. As he went for alms, gradually he went to the city of Sin-byung, and sat down in the middle of a lotus grove, walking, returning, looking slightly, looking in detail, contracting, stretching, and the majesty of wearing the monastic robe, the Dharma robe, and carrying the bowl, made the city of Sin-byung

Then he began to go for alms. At that time, the wealthy Gyadbu Norteng was staying on the foundation of his mansion, looking out over the city in search of virtuous deeds. He saw the venerable Ashvajit, with his beautiful conduct, going for alms from afar. Having seen him, he thought to himself: "So many ordained ones have come and gathered in this sinful city, but among them, I have never seen such conduct as this ordained one's. He thought to himself: "Among the ordained ones, there are those who behave one way in the city and act as they please in the monastery. I should observe his conduct in the monastery." So he said to a man: "Hey, servant, come here, follow this ordained one closely. See if his conduct is as peaceful in the monastery as it is in the city, or if it is not. Find out for sure." The man obeyed, and the venerable Ashvajit, having gone for alms in the sinful city, went to a secluded spot in the lotus grove. Upon arriving, he placed his bowl and water strainer to one side, shook out his robes, washed his feet, rinsed his mouth, strained water, picked up fallen leaves, and sat down to eat. After eating, he discarded the remaining leaves, rinsed his mouth, placed his bowl and water strainer to one side, washed his feet, leaned against a tree, and sat in the lotus position, like a chest-moving king (snake) coiling his body, sitting peacefully. Then, the man went back to the wealthy Gyadbu Norteng and reported that the venerable Ashvajit's conduct was peaceful, captivating the hearts of gods and men. Hearing this, the wealthy Gyadbu Norteng was delighted and respectfully adjusted his attire. He mounted his chariot and went from the sinful city to the depths of the lotus grove. He turned the chariot around and drove as far as the chariot could go, then dismounted and entered the depths of the lotus grove on foot. He saw the venerable Ashvajit with his senses perfectly subdued, sitting very peacefully. Having seen him,
