Without guarding, without subduing with the senses, without maintaining mindfulness, one should not go for alms. Remedying afterwards is taught below, after the completion of the thirteen Sanghavaseshas. The Sanghavasesha of emitting semen, the first one, has already been explained. The basis of the Sanghavasesha of bodily contact is that the Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden. The behavior of those six groups was: 'Here, we should teach the Dharma to the Brahmins and householders who come and arrive, and we should also subdue the opponents, and we should also proclaim our own fame.' Any one of the six groups would not leave the gate of Jeta Grove empty, so the venerable Udayin would get up early in the morning, throw away his toothbrush, put on a reddish-yellow robe, and wander and sit at the gate of Jeta Grove. The behavior of the Brahmin and householder wives dwelling in Shravasti was to go to the pleasure garden, enter Jeta Grove, visit the monastery, and go to pay homage to the Bhagavan and the elder monks. Many Brahmin and householder wives came to Jeta Grove, and the venerable Udayin would lead them one by one to the monastery of the Bhagavan and the elder monks, praising their qualities, having them pay homage, and then bringing them to his own monastery, he would begin to teach them the Dharma. The way he taught the Dharma was that the more he taught, the more attachment arose. The more attachment arose, the more he became intimate. The more intimate he became, the more he began to touch their limbs and details. Those who possessed them would engage in coercion, teasing, fighting, playing, making noise, and beating their bodies. Those who did not possess them would come out from there and complain, 'Our limbs and details, which even our husbands have not touched, have been touched by the venerable Udayin.' If our parents and siblings...

If those women hear about it, they will not even give the Bamboo Grove in Rajagriha, let alone allow ordination. They will scold, accuse, and speak harshly. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. The Blessed One, because of this event, this origin, and this cause, convened the Sangha of monks, and fully considered the ten benefits of establishing precepts. Therefore, my Shravaka disciples should recite and study the basis of the precepts as follows: If a monk, with a mind overcome by lust, engages in bodily contact with a woman, whether grasping her hand, arm, garment, or in any way caressing or rubbing any limb, it constitutes a Sanghavasesa offense. The place where the Blessed One established this precept was Shravasti (Jetavana), the person was the wicked monk, the affliction was desire, and the offense was bodily contact. Among them, the definition of "monk" is as before. "With a mind overcome by lust" means that the mind is lustful but not completely defiled, or has been defiled but not completely overcome by lust, or has been defiled and overcome by lust, or is neither defiled nor overcome by lust. Among them, for the time being, a mind that is lustful but not completely defiled refers to a mind that has attachment, complete attachment, and complete clinging. A mind that has been defiled but not completely overcome by lust refers to a mind that has dependence and connection. A mind that has been defiled and overcome by lust refers to a mind that has attachment, complete attachment, complete clinging, and also has dependence and connection. A mind that is neither defiled nor overcome by lust refers to situations other than those mentioned above. "Defiled" means losing the sense of shame due to desire, that is, the state of having attachment, complete attachment, and complete clinging in the mind. These states should be understood according to the degrees of small, medium, and large. "Overcome by lust" means that it has been transformed, wanting to have a relationship with that object, and having dependence and connection with that object. "With a woman" refers to a woman or young girl who is capable of engaging in impure conduct and engaging in sexual acts. "Bodily contact" refers to the contact of body with body. "Does" means is it doing. "Grasping the hand" means
