If one steals something that can be enjoyed, it is a minor offense. If one steals the possessions of those who have not fully received teachings and do not understand pleasant sounds, etc., it is a middling offense. To completely pass into the realm of Nirvana without any remaining aggregates, which is itself a state of complete purity like a deity, if one steals their property, it is a middling offense. If one approaches enjoyment as if definitely giving alms, it is a middling offense. If one forces others to make offerings through secret mantras and medicines, it is a middling offense. If one steals for the sake of others, it is a middling offense. If one takes possession of something that has already been taken by others, thinking that one has ownership, it is a middling offense. If one wants to select good things to steal and measures them, besides stealing and adulterating, it is a middling offense. If one tampers with ornaments, because it is a preparatory act for stealing, if one has not yet become a Victor (Buddha), it is a middling offense. If one tampers with numbers and then tries to gain more, it is a middling offense.

If one conceals (the stolen object), it is a grave offense. If one thinks that one has completely taken it, it is a grave offense. If one takes alms that do not belong to oneself, it is a grave offense. If one conspires for the purpose of stealing, it is a grave offense. If a monk adopts the appearance of other practitioners, without the concept of a monk, it is a grave offense. For the fundamental matter, no matter how many different actions are done, each action will become a grave offense. The separate establishment of the downfall of the action of action is that, from rising from the seat, etc., until not being greedy and not touching, it becomes a misdeed. If one is controlled by a mind endowed with compassion and is separated from giving, etc., it is a misdeed. If one steals by going backwards, for each step backwards, there is a misdeed. Untying (a boat) from its mooring rope, since one does not touch the boat, it is a misdeed. Stealing the relics of the Buddha for the purpose of offering is a misdeed. If one changes the numbers, it is a misdeed. Erasing, adding, or placing the marks of the counting method, etc., in another place is also a misdeed. Counting the acquired wealth into other groups, or reversing the order, or declaring what does not belong to oneself as one's own, or stealing verbal promises, is a misdeed. Persuading to divide shares, or indicating other paths, is a misdeed. Eating food without being invited is a misdeed. For each of the downfalls of action as mentioned before, if there is one action of action, there will be one misdeed. If the actions of action are different, there will be multiple misdeeds. There is no downfall for those who have no body and mind. There is no downfall for robbing with compassion by means of magical powers. Even if one squeezes with clothes or cow dung, changing the direction, or cutting off the edges and complete parts, it is not necessary to measure the share. If there is no intention to steal, one should not suspect that a fault belonging to the share will arise. In the place of the share, if others put gold, etc., which should not be touched, into one's own container, if it cannot be discarded by other means, there is no fault in touching it oneself. For the purpose of copying scriptures temporarily, there is no fault in stealing books. There is no fault in reciting across the boundary of the share by means of magical powers. There is no fault in stealing by oneself. Because it is related to what was thought, one took what was not thought.
