If respect arises, one will respectfully engage in listening to treatises, contemplation, explanation, and practice, etc. Those who do not know the qualities of the teacher, upon hearing the assembly of the Tathagata's qualities being truly proclaimed, will develop respect for the teacher, thinking that the teacher who proclaims such an assembly of qualities is extremely great, thereby generating respect for the teacher. If respect for the teacher arises, one will respectfully engage in understanding the meaning of the treatises, and these are the need of needs. Therefore, the meaning of the words here will arise, and what is to be expressed in these one and a half verses is that the Blessed One's qualities of perfect benefit for others and perfect benefit for oneself are most excellent. The necessity is to fully reveal the nature of these. The relationship is that the full revelation of the nature of these is also accomplished by these one and a half verses, therefore these one and a half verses and the necessity are related by the characteristic of means and what arises from the means. The need of needs is that one will follow the conduct of the noble ones, obstacles and wrong views will be pacified, the fruit of the characteristics of high status and liberation, which are truly desired, will be fully attained, the inner and outer obstacles of future beings will be pacified, the qualities of the teacher will be known, and both practitioners who do and do not know will develop respect for the treatises and the teacher. The training ground of the all-knowing, the vessel of jewels. It should be distinguished in the midst of the assembly of noble ones. The following half verse indicates the vow to begin writing the Pratimoksha Sutra, which is also the entry point for those who first engage in contemplation. Therefore, the summarized meaning of these one and a half verses is twofold: offering through praise of the teacher, and offering through prostration. Among these, offering through praise is also twofold: the qualities of the Lord of beings, the Buddha Bhagavan, of perfect benefit for others and self

In a perfect way. Among these, the perfection of benefiting others is explained by the first verse. It also explains the five perfections of the Lord of Beings, the Blessed One Buddha, which are the means to the perfection of benefiting others: the perfection of resources, the perfection of benefiting, the perfection of wisdom, the perfection of compassion, and the perfection of the difference of the fruit. Among these, the phrase "The banner of fame is proclaimed in the three realms" explains the perfection of resources. The phrase "The sound of the lion's roar of the holy Dharma is proclaimed" explains the perfection of benefiting. The phrase "The all-knowing one" explains the perfection of wisdom. The phrase "The treasure of jewels is attained" explains the perfection of compassion. The phrase "The jewel of the crown of Brahma touches the feet" explains the perfection of the difference of the fruit. The perfection of self-benefit is explained by the first half of the following verse. It also explains the qualities of the Lord of Beings, the Blessed One Buddha, the greatness of the perfection of self-benefit, and the difference between the two perfections: the perfection of abandonment and the perfection of wisdom. Among these, the phrase "The ocean of suffering without bottom or end is crossed" explains the perfection of abandonment. The phrase "The Lord of Beings" explains the perfection of wisdom. Thus, the explanation of the qualities of the Lord of Beings, the Blessed One Buddha, the perfection of benefiting others and the perfection of self-benefit, is the explanation of offering through praising the teacher. Offering through prostration is through prostrating with body, speech, and mind, which is explained by the phrase "Prostrating with the head." Having prostrated in this way, what should be done? One should vow to begin writing the Pratimoksha Sutra, which is explained by the second half of the following verse. It also explains the greatness of the Pratimoksha through who explains it, what is explained, and to whom it is explained, and explains that what is explained by whom should be distinguished in the midst of the Sangha to whom it is explained. Among these, by whom it is explained
