If the precepts have been given, then the one who has given the precepts, by conduct residing elsewhere, as long as the state of Arhat is not attained, this is the all-encompassing Dharma of practicing the precepts for a lifetime. Therefore, he should not boast to the one abiding in his own nature, nor bow, nor rise, nor join his palms, nor take on the work of reverence. The monk abiding in his own nature should also not do these things to him. The monk abiding in his own nature should not break away from walking slowly together, nor should he be broken by another. He should not allow another to sit on a seat lower than his own. He should not allow anyone other than a monk who follows him to go into lay houses. He should not spread out bedding without a cover. He should not give ordination, full ordination, lodging, or novice ordination. He should not promise to do requests and karmas. He should not promise to do work, be a teacher of nuns, or be appointed by the Sangha with trust. Even those previously appointed should not do these things. Even those previously appointed as teachers of nuns should not teach. Even if there is no other reciter, he should not recite the Pratimoksha during the Uposatha. He should not speak of the faults of discipline, view, ritual, and livelihood to a monk who has not been expelled from the Sangha. He should not do anything with speech or with a peg. He should not arrange instructions, Uposatha, Pavarana, requests, and speech. He should not attend to those who abide in their own nature on an equal footing. The fault of the one who gives the precepts is also the fault of that cause. There are also other faults. One should not do anything that is in accordance with faults for those who practice Brahmacharya. If one does not practice the all-encompassing Dharma as it has been established, one should think that the vows will become meaningless. In the morning, one should get up early, open the door of the temple, and clear the lamps. One should clean, dust, and anoint with soft oil in the temple. One should clean the places of feces and urine of the Sangha. There, one should place brooms and seasonal water. One should clear the cobwebs of the temple. One should spread out the seats of the Sangha. One should know the time of offerings.
