It is subduing, which is to be free from it. The so-called "wandering in various ways" means wandering many times in the cycle of existence, such as in the lower realms. Those who do not have learning and do not want to practice correctly, because they are far from subduing, do not attain peace and wander in the cycle of existence, which shows the faults of not practicing correctly. The faults of not practicing correctly have been explained. These are the things that should be done first, that is, the rituals. Now I will explain the work of reciting the sutra. In this regard, making the power of request, it is said: All virtuous monks, please listen. Today's Sangha's Uposatha is the fourteenth or fifteenth day. If the time of the Sangha has come and it is permissible, then please allow the Sangha. Today the Sangha performs the Uposatha and recites the Pratimoksha Sutra. This is a request. As it is said, this is to show the request for reciting the sutra. If the request is not spoken, it becomes an unauthorized act, so it becomes inappropriate. Therefore, here, before reciting the five parts of the Pratimoksha Sutra, only the work of request should be done. Because of reciting the sutra, the request for reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra should be done as follows: The reciter of the sutra sits on the lion throne, first recites the praise of the Pratimoksha Sutra, and the words that should be done first, and then does this work of request. The so-called "all virtuous monks" is to call with words of offering, which is the general term for the virtuous assembly. The so-called "please listen" means to focus on listening and to be respectful. The so-called "today's Sangha's Uposatha is the fourteenth or fifteenth day," the so-called Uposatha, is the place to nourish and practice the three trainings, and there are also two types, namely, the conforming Uposatha and the abiding Uposatha. Among them, the conforming Uposatha is in terms of higher discipline, and should conform in terms of place, assembly, and ritual. The abiding Uposatha is in terms of higher mind and higher wisdom, and is to practice the limbs of abandonment. Moreover, the latter's actions, etc., are restricted by the water and land of what should not be done, so it is conforming.

Practicing the Uposatha vows helps to maintain discipline. Previous actions are purified through cultivation, so they are restored by the Samatha-vipassana Uposatha. Therefore, relying on higher morality, higher mind arises, and relying on higher mind, higher wisdom arises. Therefore, know that restoring and practicing these three trainings are the corresponding Uposatha and the Samatha Uposatha. At this time, the corresponding Uposatha should be taken. There are five types of corresponding Uposatha: the fourteenth, the fifteenth, the auspicious, the calamitous, and the harmonious Uposatha. For all of these, it is necessary to first make a request and state the origin, and then recite the Pratimoksha Sutra. Among these five corresponding Uposathas, here it is to explain the situation of the fourteenth and fifteenth Uposathas, so it is said, "the fourteenth or fifteenth Uposatha." Among them, there are six seasons, each with two months, and these twelve months have twenty-four Uposathas. If we look at the accuracy of the dates, then all are the fifteenth Uposatha. If we look at the worldly terms, then it is the fourteenth Uposatha, which is the six Uposathas after half a month of each of the six seasons. It is explained in this way: the most prosperous and most waning moon of the three months of summer and the three months of winter cannot reach the fifteenth, so the four empty days of the most prosperous and most waning are the fourteenth Uposatha. The middle moon of the three months of autumn and the three months of spring cannot reach the fifteenth, so the two middle empty days are the fourteenth Uposatha. The remaining eighteen are the fifteenth Uposatha. If the auspicious, calamitous, and harmonious Uposathas are performed, then at that time it should be specifically stated, "Today is the Sangha's auspicious Uposatha," or "Today is the Sangha's calamitous Uposatha," or "Today is the Sangha's harmonious Uposatha." These are only done when they need to be done, and there is no fixed time. The fourteenth and fifteenth Uposathas have fixed times,
