It is a transgression. If one makes something other than a seat, it is a transgression. Before the first spreading of the completed act, splitting, destroying, and rubbing are transgressions. It is a transgression for unsuitable materials. It is a transgression for being smaller than the measure. The transgression of combination is a minor transgression. As many combinations as there are, so many combinations of combinations there are. The combination of the transgression of combination is also a transgression, that is, a minor transgression. That is, first thinking in the mind is the minor transgression of the combination of combination. Then, combining with body and speech is the actual transgression of combination. Then, the completion is the basis of abandonment and expiation, and it should be understood as such. There is no transgression in obtaining what has already been made, enjoying what has been made by others, and manifestly tidying up the old. If white and coarse wool are excessive, and black wool is less or equal, there is no transgression. There is also no transgression if white or coarse wool is excessive. There is no transgression for beginners, the insane, the mentally disturbed, and those afflicted by feelings. What should be learned is that a monk should not rely on all forms of abandonment and expiation that mix two parts in all places and at all times. Ordinary seats with internal fillings, seats filled with cotton, and those called "Yampo" should be held. Remaking is the same as before. The abandonment of mixing two parts, that is, the thirteenth, has been explained. The basis for the abandonment of holding for six years is twofold, from the perspective of prohibition and permission. Among them, for the time being, the basis for prohibition is that the Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, many seats appeared to the monks, and they said: This seat is too long! This one is too short! Having said that, they threw it away and started making others. This seat is too narrow! This one is too wide! This one is full of holes, worn out, and difficult to repair! Having said that, they threw it away and started making others. Those monks made and made, made and threw away, the matter

Increased, doing more things increased, listening, reading, reciting, yoga, contemplation, and the inner practice of calming and insight meditation are all abandoned. Why do such numerous matters concerning cushions occur among the monks? These cushions, this one is too long, this one is too short, abandoning it like this and then making others. This cushion is too narrow, this cushion is too wide, this one is full of holes, worn out, and difficult to repair in every way, abandoning it like this and then making others. These monks make cushions and then abandon them, causing things to increase, doing more things increased, listening, reading, reciting, yoga, contemplation, and the inner practice of calming and insight meditation are all abandoned, therefore they are rebuked, blamed, and criticized. At that time, the monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, regarding this matter, this origin, this cause, convened the monastic community of monks, rebuked the monks, criticized them in various ways, and fully saw the ten benefits of establishing precepts, therefore my hearers should declare the root of learning the discipline in this way: If a monk makes a new cushion, he must keep it for six years even if unwilling. If a monk, within six years, whether abandoning or not abandoning the old cushion, makes another new cushion, he commits a relinquishment offense. The Blessed One established this precept. The place was Shravasti. The people were numerous monks. The afflictions were greed and anger. The offense is making a new cushion before the cushion has reached six years. The occasion for permission is that the Buddha Blessed One was dwelling in the forest, in a supreme place in the forest. Because the forest was cold and windy, the cushions in the monks' hands could not last for six years, and the cold caused the city roads to be cut off. The Buddha Blessed Ones cultivate knowingly, cultivate knowingly, know but do not cultivate, do not cultivate out of season, cultivate in accordance with meaning, and do not cultivate what is not in accordance with meaning, therefore the Buddha Blessed Ones are not in accordance with meaning.
