Coming for this reason alone, and repeatedly scolding, blaming, and verbally abusing Brahmins and householders. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, because of this event, this reason, and this occasion, convened the monastic community of monks, rebuked the monks, scolded them in various ways, and fully saw the ten benefits of establishing precepts. Therefore, my Sravaka disciples should recite and study the basis of the precepts as follows: If any monk uses a newly made seat of pure black sheep's wool, it is an offense entailing forfeiture. The place was Sravasti (Jetavana). The people were many monks. The afflictions were desire and hatred. The offense is using a newly made seat of pure black sheep's wool. Among them, the monk "Ga" refers to the author of this Dharma. "Sheep's wool" refers to the wool of sheep. "Pure black" refers to four kinds of black: naturally black, black dyed with blue, mud color, and dark brown. "Seat" refers to two kinds of seats: those with inner cores and those that are spread out. Here, it refers to the spread-out seat. "New" refers to two kinds of new: newly made and newly acquired. Here, it refers to newly made. "Use" means using oneself or causing others to use. "Offense entailing forfeiture" means that the object must be abandoned and the offense of downfall confessed to others, hence it is called an offense entailing forfeiture. So, how does the offense arise? Here, the definition is understood through the main action, the preparatory action, the preparatory action of the preparatory action to determine the offense, as well as the absence of offense, what should be learned, and the remedies. Among them, regarding the abandonment of pure black wool, all the circumstances of the previous description of the abandonment of silk are the same. The difference is that previously it was "silk," but here the different name "pure black wool" is used to express it. Therefore, it is said that it is pure black sheep's wool. Here, the determination of the offense of the main action is that a monk uses a newly made seat of pure black sheep's wool.

It is like an anthill. If a mat is taken from a corpse, whether made by oneself or by others, then at the time of the first spreading, it becomes the basis for an offense of expiation involving only black wool. If a bhikshu commits an offense of expiation involving only black wool, if he has not abandoned and separated from it, and has not confessed the offense, or if he has abandoned and separated from it, and has not confessed the offense, or if he has abandoned and separated from it, and has not confessed the offense, and then obtains another mat like that made of only black wool and only black body wool, then it will also be abandoned due to the power of the previous one, but he will not commit an offense because of it. If a bhikshu commits an offense of expiation involving only black wool, as long as he has not confessed and separately confessed from the object of expiation, and places a bowl or a Dharma garment or a net or a bowl or a belt or any other bhikkhu's living utensil nearby, then it will also be abandoned due to the power of the previous one, but he will not commit an offense because of it. There is no fault in a mat made of only new black sheep's wool. If asked what makes it black, there are four kinds of black, namely, naturally black, naturally blue, naturally muddy, and naturally maroon, and there is no fault in these. Newness is not a fault for oldness. Doing it oneself and having others do it is not a fault. For a mat, spreading is the ultimate beginning, therefore, there is no fault in separating, destroying, and grinding only black wool that is needed there at the time of the first spreading. There is no fault in an object made of only black wool, whether good, bad, or mixed. There is no fault in only black wool that is not damaged. There is no fault in mixing black wool and silk and other rare and precious things in equal proportions. Black wool is suitable, and there is no fault. There are three sizes of mats: large, medium, and small. The length of the large one is five and a half cubits, the length of the small one is three and a half cubits, and the length of the medium one is between the two, that is, four and a half cubits. Their width is equal to the width of the bedding, and the width is half the height of the Sugata plus one cubit, which is the usual.
