said to me: "This householder merchant is a cheat, he does not have good large pieces of cloth, go elsewhere." When the merchant heard this, he showed the large pieces of cloth suitable for great people and said: "Noble one, please look at these large pieces of cloth. If these large pieces of cloth are good, the price is this much. Householder, will you buy it? Householder, will you buy it? Yes, I will buy it. When will you pay? I will pay at this time." The merchant gave those large pieces of cloth to the householder, and the householder distributed the cloth to Nede, and Nede said to the householder Arogya: "May you, through this generosity, obtain the adornment of the mind, the requisites of the mind, the accumulation of yoga, the supreme meaning, and the clothes of gods and humans." Having said this, he left. The householder, because of excessive enjoyment, was unable to pay those prices on time, so the merchant tied the householder to a pillar. Those young friends saw him and said: "Have you drunk lamp oil? Or have you been struck by the plague? Or have you been seized by a young child?" Your father has not been in debt, nor have your grandfathers been in debt, how could you be in debt? He said: "Whoever has faith in the monks who are sons of Shakya will become like this, in this way, whatever they give away, they not only do not take away, but they ask for more." When they said this, the monks reported it to the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One, because of this event, this origin, this cause, gathered the community of monks, rebuked Nede, disparaged him in various ways, and fully saw the ten benefits of establishing the precepts, (the Blessed One said) my Shravaka disciples should recite and learn the basis of the precepts in this way: For the sake of a monk, the householder and the wife of the householder who are not relatives discuss the price of the cloth separately, "Let us two buy this and this kind of cloth with these separate prices of the cloth, and when the monk named so-and-so comes, let us two each give him the suitable cloth in time," if that monk has not been informed beforehand, but some discriminations arise, because he wants good things, the householder and the householder.

If my wife is not a relative, go to her and say: "Venerable ones, for me, the cloth money that you have each accumulated, with those cloth money that you have each accumulated, venerable ones, please buy for me each of these and those kinds of cloth, and then put them together, please make a suitable garment for me in time." After saying this, if the garment is made, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense. The rule is thus established. The place is Shravasti. The person is Nanda. The afflictions are desire and hatred. The offense is soliciting accumulated money from different people. Among them, "for the sake of the Bhikshu" refers to the son of Shakya, Nanda, or anyone else like him. "Householder" refers to a man. "Householder's wife" refers to a woman. "Not a relative" means that up to the seventh generation of relatives, such as grandmothers and grandfathers, are relatives, and beyond that range, they are not relatives. "Cloth money" refers to gold or silver. "Each" refers to different ones. "Accumulated" means prepared. "We two with these respective cloth money" refers to the gold or silver that each has accumulated. "This and that kind of cloth" refers to any of the seven kinds of cloth, namely wool cloth, Shana cloth, Zama cloth, Dugula cloth, cotton cloth, Kotamba cloth, and Niyoga cloth. "Each" refers to different ones. "Buy" means to buy. "The name of the Bhikshu is" refers to the one who comes, namely the son of Shakya, Nanda, or anyone else like him. "We two will each make a suitable garment for him in time" means that it can be enjoyed. If the Bhikshu has not been informed beforehand, it means that he has not been invited beforehand. Some discriminations arise, meaning that some services arise. For the sake of wanting good, it is for the sake of wanting the best. Going to the householder and the householder's non-relative wife means going to them. "Saying this: Venerable ones, for me, the cloth money that you have each accumulated, the money for the cloth
