了知业及业之异熟故。如是世间乃受用自业之果，谁为谁之奴仆？勿打此女。贤女汝言无过。女来，沐浴后来。彼女沐浴后来，彼为彼着一件衣服后说道：女，欢喜而工作。彼女心想：此户主夫妇先前凶暴、顽固、强横，屡屡以拳头和巴掌殴打我，并施舍恶劣的食物和衣服，现在此二人变得如同我的父母一般。又心想：自从圣者近喜进入此家以来，此户主便如同父母一般，我当如何令圣者近喜欢喜呢？彼思忖道：若我从此偷取少许，则贫穷的户主定会多次殴打我，使我回到从前的境地。彼便住而安住。户主之妻对户主说道：王之子请知晓，圣者近喜乃我等之善知识，圣者近喜使我等脱离业之边际和垢染，安置于皈依处和学处，又屡屡以法摄受我等，故我等亦当以少许财物摄受彼。贤女，当如是行。当如何行？当各自向彼布施大块布匹。彼女闻之，心想：我当令圣者近喜欢喜。近喜亦于清晨着裙，持钵和法衣，于舍卫城乞食，次第乞食而入彼家。彼女将家清扫干净，丢掉扫帚，彼见近喜，顶礼双足后说道：我当令圣者近喜欢喜。户主和户主之妻将各自向您供养大块布匹。近喜心想：地上所有贪欲之自性者

The noble Nears Delight has separated us from the edge and defilements of karma, and placed us in the refuge and the place of learning. He repeatedly gathers us with the Dharma, so we should also gather him with a little wealth. Good woman, do so. How should we do it? We should each give him large pieces of cloth. When the girl heard this, she thought: I will make the noble Nears Delight happy. Nears Delight also put on his skirt in the morning, and took his bowl and Dharma robes. He entered Shravasti for alms, and gradually entered that house while begging for alms. The girl cleaned the house well, threw away the broom, and when she saw Nears Delight, she prostrated at his feet and said: I will make the noble Nears Delight happy.
