Having initiated the act of expiation and downfall, until the actual substance is reached, all are misdeeds. For the actual substance, for each different action performed, there is a corresponding misdeed. For those belonging to the human realm, having become householders, possessing life, and contrary to being relatives, it is a misdeed to request or obtain knowledge of things without offering leftovers. It is a misdeed at the very moment of requesting knowledge of things without offering leftovers. It is a misdeed to request or obtain things that should not be requested without offering leftovers. It is a misdeed to request or obtain small amounts of things without offering leftovers. It is a misdeed to request or obtain knowledge of things due to kinship without offering leftovers. For things that are by nature related, such as cotton cloth, it is a misdeed to request or obtain knowledge of things without offering leftovers. For the householder or the householder's wife, both or one of them, as well as hermaphrodites and bisexuals, it is a misdeed to request or obtain knowledge of things without offering leftovers. For non-Buddhist renunciates and renunciates of this Dharma, those who have committed the five inexpiable sins, etc., those who have not taken vows from the beginning due to permanent obstacles, and those who have broken their vows after taking them, it is a misdeed to request or obtain knowledge of things without offering leftovers. The downfall of the act of action is a minor misdeed; as many actions as there are, there are as many acts of action. The act of action of a misdeed is also a misdeed, that is, a minor misdeed. Among them, first thinking in the mind is a minor misdeed of the act of action. Then, acting with body and speech is the actual misdeed of the act. Then, the final completion is the actual substance of expiation and downfall, it should be understood. There is no downfall when a monk's robes are robbed, lost, burned, blown away by the wind, or carried away by water, etc., because these are things that should be requested. Therefore, there is no downfall in requesting knowledge of these things without offering leftovers. There is no downfall in obtaining other values, other colors, or other sizes of things without offering leftovers. There is no downfall in requesting coarse cloth and kha-tsar cloth without offering leftovers. There is no downfall in obtaining coarse cloth after requesting kha-tsar cloth without offering leftovers. If coarse cloth is requested without offering leftovers, then large and small pieces of cloth will be obtained.

Even if one asks for something thinking about it and obtains it, there is no downfall. There is no downfall for the first-time practitioner, the insane, the mentally disturbed, or those overwhelmed by feelings. What is to be learned is that a bhikshu should learn not to rely on any means of abandoning begging for alms in all places and at all times. The remedy is the same as before. The abandonment of begging for alms, the eighth, has been explained. The basis for the abandonment of begging for alms separately is that the Buddha Bhagavan was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, in the Garden of Anathapindika. In Shravasti, there was a householder who took a wife from the same lineage. He played with her, rejoiced, and enjoyed various pleasures. That householder became attached to another's wife. When his wife dissuaded him, saying, "Prince, do not do that," no matter how much he was dissuaded, he did not stop. Likewise, his wife also began to commit adultery with other men. That householder also gave to other women, and his wife also gave to other men. Thus, both of those families declined. They both had a servant daughter. That householder beat that daughter with fists and sticks, saying, "She is the one who ruined this family." The daughter said, "I know how this family has declined. But how can I say things that do not praise the princes?" Nanda heard about this, and he went to that householder and the householder's wife, and in order to make them take refuge and abide in the precepts, he praised morality and also spoke of things that do not praise immorality, and then he made them take refuge and abide in the precepts. That householder was a rough, stubborn, and fierce person, and he again began to beat that daughter. His wife said to him, "Prince, you beat her when we did not understand karma and the ripening of karma. Now we rely on the virtuous friend, the noble Nanda,
