If it belongs to a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense, and one begs for it, if one takes more than the limit including the upper and lower garments, then one will commit a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense, this is the distinction. The donor belongs to the human realm, is a householder with life, and is not a relative, the reason for saying this is that if it is the opposite, one will commit a Dukkata. The reason for saying 'including the upper and lower garments, it is suitable, meets the standard, and is not smaller than this standard' is that if one begs for unsuitable Dharma robes from a non-relative, or begs for something that is not allowed, one will commit a Dukkata. The reason for saying 'taking more than the limit of one set of upper and lower garments' is that there is no fault in taking the limit of one set. Including the upper and lower garments, there are two types: those of householders and those of monks. The reason for mentioning these two is to differentiate between the two situations of monks who want to wear clothes: those who want to wear uncut clothes and those who want to wear cut clothes. Among them, those who want to wear uncut clothes beg for the upper and lower garments of householders. Those who want to wear cut clothes beg for the upper and lower garments of monks. Among them, the size of a householder's upper garment is: a large piece of cloth, twelve cubits long and three cubits wide. The size of the lower garment is: a small piece of cloth, seven cubits long and two cubits wide. The size of a monk's upper garment is: as stated in the order of the Sanghati. The size of the lower garment is: as stated in the order of the Antaravasa. If a monk begs for the upper and lower garments of a householder, and obtains them, if they are small, one should not beg again, and if they are large, one should not give them away. If a monk begs for the upper and lower garments, and obtains them, if they are small, one should beg again, and if they are large, one should give them away. If one obtains one or two or more upper and lower garments through one effort, one should only establish one basis of the offense. The offense of the effort is a Dukkata, that is, as long as one starts the effort of begging for a Nissaggiya Pacittiya offense, but does not reach the basis.
