The mantra of confession should be recited completely. If one cannot recite the confession mantra completely, even if one only says a name or category, it is considered a confession. The confession mantra must be recited completely. When confessing minor transgressions, even if the name and category are not mentioned, it is sufficient to say "I have committed a transgression" or "I have done something I should not have done," expressing it in any way. Except for the fundamental actions that lead to defeat, for all other transgressions such as preparatory actions and minor transgressions, if there has been concealment before, the previous fault of concealment should be corrected first, and then the subsequent transgression should be confessed. Correcting the fault of concealment means stating the name and category of the transgression, and how long it was concealed, confessing each one individually. For sanghadisesa offenses, if there is a fault of concealment, it must be eliminated by the karma of "moving the assembly," which has been explained before. If one does not confess or disclose when there is an opportunity to confess and disclose, then each day will add a new minor transgression. For the person to whom one confesses, if the other person is a fully ordained bhikkhu, naturally abiding, with the same view and discipline, residing within the boundary, and the transgression committed is different from the other person's name and category, then one should not confess to people of other sects. Confession should not be made to people of other sects in any circumstances. In this way, if one confesses the minor transgressions of preparatory actions, then it is not necessary to separately confess and disclose the subtle transgressions of that preparatory action. The restoration of the fundamental act of expiation by surrender is also through the two methods of confession and disclosure, recovering from the fundamental act of expiation by surrender. For the disclosure of the fundamental act of expiation by surrender, a bhikkhu should not conceal any improper behavior. If one commits any of the thirty fundamental acts of expiation by surrender, even if only a slight thought of concealment arises, one should not conceal it, but should immediately take off the double-layered shoes, then squat in front of a fully ordained bhikkhu, who is naturally abiding, with the same view and discipline, residing within the boundary, and the transgression committed is different from one's own name and category, joining the palms and bowing the head, stating the category name of the transgression committed, and the specific content of what was committed, making a disclosure. The mantra for this is as follows: Venerable one,

Please advise me. I, a monk named so-and-so, have committed such-and-such offense from the category of offenses entailing forfeiture. I, a monk named so-and-so, confess that offense before the venerable ones, without concealing it. If I confess, I will abide in comfort, but if I do not confess, I will not, thus repeating three times. After that, the listener should say, "It is the method." The confessor should say, "Good." Regarding the actual confession of an offense entailing forfeiture, if there has been concealment, then in the future, the period of concealment should be added into the mantra and confessed. If there has been no concealment, then a brief confession should be done as before. That is how the confession is completed. At the time of confession, if there is no person to whom to confess, there is no fault of concealment until dawn. Until a person to whom to confess is found, even if dawn breaks, there is no fault of concealment if one has not confessed. If there is no person to whom to confess, until a person to whom to confess is found, there is no fault of concealment if one does not have the intention to confess. Even if there is a person to whom to confess, but due to some reasons, one does not have the opportunity to go there, or one has left that place, during that time, there is no fault of concealment if one does not have the intention to confess. Even if there is a person to whom to confess, but if one thinks, if I go to him and tell the story, I fear I will commit the fault of concealment, therefore I do not go there, or I go elsewhere and do not tell, there is also no fault of concealment. In any case, not going there before the conditions are complete, or going elsewhere, and not confessing before dawn, and generating the intention to conceal, these are all misdeeds, and are as before. Regarding concealment, doubting about an offense entailing forfeiture is the same as knowing. Not knowing about an offense entailing forfeiture is also the same. Forgetting without intending to conceal, and not being able to recall whether one did it or not, what it was like, etc., and not having taken full ordination, and being expelled from the community, concealment does not occur. A beginner, and a madman, and a disturbed mind, and feeling
