How does that almsgiving become flawless? If one gives alms to householders or renunciates in those ways in order to obtain the adornment of the mind, the equipment of the mind, the collection of yoga, and the supreme meaning, then that almsgiving becomes flawless, and that is called the increase of giving. What is the adornment of a virtuous one? In short, there are seventeen aspects: having faith, being without deceit, having few illnesses, having the nature of exerting effort, having sharp wisdom, having few desires, being content, being easy to heal, being easy to satisfy, possessing the qualities of learning, being beautiful, understanding warmth, possessing the Dharma of a noble person, possessing the signs of a wise person, having great patience, being pleasing, and being prosperous. Therefore, even a virtuous friend is very difficult to find, so what need is there to mention listening to and contemplating the sacred Dharma, etc.? Thus, those two verses show that because the path of the Sangha is rare, it must be made fruitful, and through the means of making it fruitful, it is shown that the path of the Sangha should be made fruitful. Having obtained the path of the Sangha, making the path of the Sangha fruitful, having made it the authority, it is said: The appearance of the Buddha in the world, and humans and renunciates, the perfection of morality, good friends are difficult to find, if found. This is one verse. The appearance of the Buddha in the world, this shows the attainment of the wealth of others. Humans, this shows the attainment of one's own wealth. Renunciates, this shows the attainment of desire for virtuous Dharma. The perfection of morality, this shows the attainment of the discipline of morality, the discipline of the senses, knowing the measure of food, and striving after not sleeping in the upper and lower parts of the night, and acting with mindfulness. Good friends are difficult to find, if found, this shows the attainment of virtuous friends, listening to and contemplating the sacred Dharma, being without obstacles, the increase of giving, and the adornment of virtuous ones.

This single verse shows how to make the accumulation path fruitful by knowing the accumulation path and making it fruitful through the means of having to do so. After contemplating the accumulation path and making the accumulation path fruitful through diligence, one verse was spoken: The wise desire to benefit me, Those who desire to make them fruitful, Those who strive for discipline, For the sake of hearing individual liberation, one should strive. The so-called wise person is one who possesses the characteristics of a wise person, that is, the body acts well, the speech speaks well, and the mind thinks well. The so-called wanting to benefit me means wanting to understand oneself. The so-called wanting to make them fruitful means wanting to make those accumulation paths fruitful, that is, wanting to attain the path of application and the path of purification. The so-called striving for discipline refers to those who have already renounced the world. Connecting "they should strive to hear individual liberation" means that one should strive for hearing, receiving, remembering, and practicing. In this way, this single verse shows how to make the accumulation path fruitful by knowing the accumulation path and making it fruitful through diligence. In order to show that one cultivates individual liberation primarily through oneself, it was said: Bhikshus subdue all that is independent. The so-called subduing refers to guarding the five senses, such as the eyes, that is, when the eyes see form, they do not grasp at characteristics, do not grasp at secondary characteristics, and do not give rise to attachment and anger, and so on. The so-called all-independent refers to establishing equality, that is, for all states such as the senses, objects, objects of focus, time, people, and so on, one can subdue the senses. Therefore, in order to make one's mind extremely pure, for those behaviors that cause the decline of learning in the Bhikshu precepts, one must rely on oneself, and through the means of generating a sense of shame, it is shown that one cultivates individual liberation primarily through oneself. In order to show that one cultivates individual liberation primarily through others,
