Do you see, hear, or fully know that they are destroying the Sangha? If you see, hear, or fully know that they are engaging in all kinds of evil deeds, then the monks should say to those monks: 'Venerable ones, you are the ones who are destroying the Sangha and engaging in all kinds of evil deeds. We have seen, heard, and fully know that you are destroying the Sangha; we have also seen, heard, and fully know that you are engaging in all kinds of evil deeds. Venerable ones, you should not stay here any longer, leave this place!' They should be admonished in this way. If they say to the monks: 'Venerable ones, here some monks act out of desire, act out of hatred, act out of delusion, act out of fear. Therefore, for the same offense, some monks are expelled, and some are not expelled.' Then, the monks should say to those monks: 'Venerable ones, you should not say that here some monks act out of desire, act out of hatred, act out of delusion, act out of fear. Therefore, for the same offense, some monks are expelled, and some are not expelled.' Why? Because those monks do not act out of desire, do not act out of hatred, do not act out of delusion, do not act out of fear. But it is because you yourselves, venerable ones, are the ones who are destroying the Sangha and engaging in all kinds of evil deeds. We have seen, heard, and fully know that you are destroying the Sangha; we have also seen, heard, and fully know that you are engaging in all kinds of evil deeds.' Venerable ones, you should abandon this way of speaking called 'acting out of desire,' as well as the ways of speaking 'acting out of hatred,' 'acting out of delusion,' and 'acting out of fear.' They should be admonished in this way. When the monks admonish those monks in this way, if they abandon that behavior, that is good. If they do not abandon it, in order for them to abandon that behavior, they should be correctly admonished and taught again and again. After being correctly admonished and taught again and again, if they abandon that behavior, that is good. If they do not abandon it, then...

The precept called "Superior Intention" was established. The place is Shravasti (mnyan yod). The people are Swift-goer and Naso. The afflictions are falsely speaking, with the thought of turning away from the self-purifying Sangha, acting with desire, and so on. The offense is destroying families. Among them, are those called bhikshus Swift-goer and Naso? Or whoever else is like them. "Very many" means that it can also be in number, more than two is very many. "From a village or town" means Rede Ri or whatever else is like it. "Closely relying and abiding" means with the enjoyment of Dharma and wealth. Those "Destroying families" means the families of Brahmins and householders. "Destroying" means that they destroy with two causes, namely association and enjoyment. How is it through association? Sitting together with women on the same mat, eating in the same vessel, drinking various intoxicating drinks in the same cup, that is how it is through association. How is it through enjoyment? With food, with drink, with clothes, with flowers, with fruits, with toothpicks, that is how it is through enjoyment. "Practicing all sinful dharmas" means practicing all evil places. "Their families" means the families of Brahmins and householders. "Have you seen the destruction?" means with eye consciousness. "Have you heard?" means with ear consciousness. "Do you fully know?" means with other collections of consciousness. "They practice sin" means practicing all evil places. "Have you seen? Have you heard? Do you fully know?" means as before. "To those bhikshus" means to Swift-goer and Naso and whoever else is like them. "By the bhikshus" means by these Dharma holders. Saying, "Venerable ones, you are destroyers of families, practitioners of all sinful dharmas, you have also seen, heard, and fully know that families are destroyed," you...

Also seeing and hearing and fully understanding, those with life, you are content to stay here, leave from here, you should admonish them in this way. This means that after talking, after seeing the downfall, according to the previously shown act of expulsion, the act of expulsion should be performed. If those say to the monks: Venerable ones, here some monks act out of desire, act out of hatred, act out of delusion, act out of fear. Like this, just because of similar downfalls, some monks are expelled, and some monks are not expelled. This means that due to the control of afflictions, with wrong intentions towards the Sangha who expel themselves, they falsely speak of acting out of desire, etc. Saying to those monks, this is said to those who act quickly and those who drink twice, and others like them. The monks say, this is said to those who hold this Dharma. Saying like this: Venerable ones, here some monks act out of desire, act out of hatred, act out of delusion, act out of fear. Like this, just because of similar downfalls, some monks are expelled, and some monks are not expelled, do not say that. What is the reason for that? Those monks do not act out of desire, do not act out of hatred, do not act out of delusion, do not act out of fear. But it is like this, Venerable ones, you yourselves are destroyers of families, those who practice all sinful Dharmas. You yourselves have seen, heard, and fully understood the destruction of families, you have also seen, heard, and fully understood the practice of sin. Venerable ones, the path of words that the Sangha acts out of desire, and acts out of hatred, acts out of delusion, acts out of fear, abandon such paths of words, you should admonish them in this way. This means that you should admonish them in a gentle way as previously shown. To the monks, when the monks admonish them in this way, this means when admonishing in a gentle way. If you abandon that basis, this means if you completely abandon that view. That is good, this means that is good.
