If it is said, "Unexpected wealth can be disposed of at will," that is a coarse offense. After obtaining it, one will incur a downfall as it is. If one accepts alms without a basis, that is a coarse offense. If one eats without being invited, it is a misdeed. If the Khenpo has gone to another village, even if one accepts offerings, if one makes it known to others at the time of acceptance, there is no downfall. Similarly, for a friend as well. It is said that one should not accept without being entrusted. This is certain. If one accepts for the sake of a sick person, and if the sick person dies, it should be given to the donor himself. If it is for the sake of living, then it is the belongings of the dead. If a thief or a guardian of a treasury, etc., gives, one should keep one's mind close to them. If thieves give when they are fleeing in fear of harm, one should not accept. Even if one accepts, there is no downfall due to the cause of theft. There is also no downfall for one with the mark of a thief. It should be cut with a weapon, made ugly in color, and then held. If the owner of the property himself asks for it, it should be given. Through terms such as letters, handwritten letters, and hand seals, things should also be dealt with as they are. If one steals something that is not called a "Karshapana," it should be dealt with according to the value of one's own property. Similarly, stealing Karshapanas of good quality, things that are not called Karshapanas, and things made of iron, one incurs a downfall according to the value. Similarly, if one makes an effort to steal something similar to a good Karshapana, if the owner says, "This is what I give to you," and the thought of giving up arises, that is a coarse offense. If one turns gold or silver into iron and passes the place of gambling, that is a coarse offense. If one steals jewels or useless things that are called jewels, one should calculate the value and incur a downfall as it is. After determining what is filled, if at that time there is nothing else equal to it, that is the real thing. If one determines what is filled beforehand and then takes it from the place later, that is a coarse offense. If one fills it from the beginning, that is the real thing. If one kills elephants, etc., for the sake of survival, that is the real thing. If one thinks that even if it is not beneficial to both, it is better to do it, that is a coarse offense. When gambling, if one steals by counting and hiding, etc., one will incur a downfall as it is.

It is a downfall. If one thinks of stealing, stealing the property of others, one commits a gross offense. If valuable silk emerges from a mixture, and later one steals the mixture itself, one commits a downfall. When washing hands, seeing a jeweled vessel does not constitute a downfall. If one desires to possess it, it should be given as alms. If, with the intention of stealing, one moves the property of the Sangha of the four directions from one place to another, one commits a misdeed. If one takes away everything, including a bird's nest, for the purpose of burning or cooking, one commits a misdeed. What a mouse takes away, if it is one's own, one can take it back, but if it is not one's own, one cannot take it back. If a mouse brings it, one should use it by virtue of the favor it has given. For anything, if one thinks, "I will steal it in this way," and moves the body, one commits a gross offense. If a sick person hands over a Kārṣāpaṇa (Sanskrit, Kārṣāpaṇa, literal Chinese meaning: an ancient Indian currency unit), instructing, "Do this and that with this, and then offer it to the Sangha," if one does not do so, but distributes it arbitrarily, one commits a gross offense. If the property of the deceased is not distributed, and all the Buddha's disciples gathered within the boundary steal and take possession of everything, they will commit a Parajika offense. It should be distributed in this way: if one gathers within the boundary at five times, one has the right to receive the property of the deceased: striking the deceased's gaṇḍī (Sanskrit, gaṇḍī, literal Chinese meaning: gaṇḍī, a percussion instrument), reciting the continuous third section, prostrating to the stupa, acting in accordance with the Dharma, and at the time of prayer. It should be done like this: Please listen, all you monks. In this place, a monk named so-and-so has passed away, and his visible and invisible property, if the Sangha deems it appropriate to distribute it during the Sangha's time, please let the Sangha allow it. The Sangha will bless the visible and invisible property of the deceased monk named so-and-so. This is the prayer. In places where the Sangha is busy or there are no officers, one should do the beginning and the end first: give a small amount of property to an elder and a younger member of the Sangha, and distribute the rest when it is convenient. Those who come after the time of the beginning and the end has passed will not be given property. The property of the deceased that is in another person's house belongs to whoever comes first. If they arrive at the same time, it belongs to whoever asks first. If they arrive at the same time, it belongs to whoever the patron gives it to, because it is given by virtue of faith.
