Having done so, it is a synonym for "postponement." Except for pulling out pegs from the ground and damaging it by drawing lines on the ground, preventing cow dung related to the ground, and except for doing it solely with the intention of walking, moving mud, or lifting pots and the like related to it, or pulling out pegs hammered into the wall, or preventing cow dung, or drawing lines, or preventing salty substances, or digging up non-earthly substances, or digging up burnt or damaged earth, if there is a lot of gravel and sand, and little earth, digging it up is a transgression. If it is only gravel, or only sand, and it is not used for construction and is not mixed with lime, there is no transgression in inserting a peg about four fingers high into the ground. Some say that if someone else pushes it, or water washes it away, or it is wet from rain, or the earth collapses, or it is eaten by worms, or it becomes a pit, there is no transgression in such a case. Recognizing something with its own nature as having its own nature has six aspects. It is also the same for recognizing earth as earth. Some also say that whether it has been permitted or not, it is okay, but if one recognizes it as not permitted, it is a transgression. The third (section). Regarding the fourth (section) on summer: The Great Name (elder's name) forbade the Sangha for four months, but the Six Groups of monks still begged even after exceeding the limit, so based on the basis of the prohibition, the fourth was established due to serious violations and the afflictions of poverty. Four months are permitted, otherwise it is abandoned. The term "four months" refers to beyond four months. The term "prohibition" refers to inviting as a guest. The term "taking possession" refers to promising. The term "separately prohibited" refers to separately, one by one, prohibiting the monks, based on Pilindavatsa, it is permitted. The term "repeatedly prohibited" refers to saying, "We will come later," not taking possession, just as the belief in a self with form is repeatedly strengthened. The term "prohibited especially for the sake of benefit" refers to prohibiting without taking possession because it is of no use to the king. The term "always prohibited" refers to performing a death ceremony after exceeding four months, and not taking possession, therefore it is always prohibited. Monk month

If, before four months have passed, inferior food has been offered, but it has not been openly used, if one takes superior food, one commits a minor offense. If one eats it, one commits a downfall. If superior food has been offered, but one takes inferior food, then both commit a minor offense. After four months have passed, if one takes the food that was offered and eats it, one commits a downfall. Other than that, one commits a minor offense. Whether four months have passed or not, if one takes superior food and eats it due to illness, there is no downfall. If a woman comes carrying food, if one asks what she wants, since it is an offering, one should take what she wants and enjoy it. The fourth ends. While residing in Rajagriha, wherever a common precept was established, at that time, both sanghas also gathered. Because the bhikshuni sangha did not gather on this basis of the precept, messengers were sent to instruct the bhikshunis on the road, and after they left, they also instructed the group of six bhikshus, but they did not listen, so they made the basis of the precept the basis of reproach, and because of the affliction of disrespect, the fifth was established. The term "children" refers to those who contemplate closely, and so on. The term "ignorant ones" refers to those who do not hold the sutras, and so on. The term "unclear ones" refers to those who are unclear about the meaning. The term "unskilled ones" refers to those who are not skilled in determining. The term "holders of the sutras" refers to those who hold all the sutras, and so on. From the words "children" and so on, if one speaks any of them, one commits a downfall. If it is the truth that one is a child, or if one speaks something that is not in accordance with the precept, then there is no downfall. Speaking to those who have acknowledged and those who have not acknowledged, and also to those who have committed a downfall. The fifth ends. While residing in Shravasti, the group of seventeen bhikshus were deliberating on expelling the group of six bhikshus from their dwellings, and because they eavesdropped, they made the basis of the dispute, and because of the unbearable affliction, the sixth was established. The term "becoming a dispute" and so on, there, speaking in anger, and refuting is a dispute. Mutually exposing each other's faults is revealing shortcomings. There, being unbearable is discord. Arguing and fighting, speaking displeasing words to each other is contention. The term "listening" means listening closely. That is how it is.
