For the monasteries of monks and Brahmins, regarding bedding and cushions, whether belonging to laypeople, individuals, or given by donors to themselves or others, or acquired and fully enjoyed by individuals, there are minor offenses for all of these. If two people are sitting on one bed, the one who leaves from the outside should let the one inside sit. If they leave together, the newcomer should sit. If neither is a newcomer, both should sit. If one perceives the untamed as untamed, etc., there are two offenses, two minor offenses, and two non-offenses. Regarding the general use of dwellings, there are also cases where bedding and cushions should not be taken, such as when what is given is unsuitable, or damaged by grains, oil, etc., or cannot support, i.e., without a cushion. There are also cases where one should leave after putting down the cushion, i.e., when the threat of water, thieves, or enemies is evident. There are also cases where one should not put down the cushion, i.e., when the threat of lions or other wild animals disappears. There are also cases where one should leave after entrusting it, i.e., when no threat is evident, and special care is needed. Some believe that because there is no obvious fault, one can leave, i.e., those laid-out cushions that will not be damaged even if eroded by rain and wind, nor will they be soaked by dew, torn, or eaten by insects. To avoid the fault of being robbed by thieves, the Bhagavan established this precept, and some also say that it is without offense. The Sangha should accept variegated mats. Individuals should not, because using them relying on donors is without offense. Without a cushion, one should not sit or lie on a variegated cushion. For most damaged situations, there is no offense. One should not use all variegated cushions without a cushion. After the Sangha's bedding and cushions have been allocated, one should not sit or walk in the rain without cover. After allocation, one should not wash, mend, or do bowl-related work. One should not go to the toilet or public places. After putting on obstacles related to the body, one should use them slowly and carefully.

There are five things that should not be used on the ground: purgatives, strong laxatives, smoke, dirt, and dust. When distributing among the Sangha, it should be done in order by the elders. Thin mats should be folded twice before use. If touched by something unclean, it should be cleaned immediately. If someone is afflicted with leprosy, bedding and cushions should be given in a remote area. Attendants should also be provided. The deterioration of the Sangha's bedding and cushions should not be neglected. For those that are torn, sewing should be provided. For those that are ripped, they should be patched. For those that are worn in the middle, the edges and ends should be sewn together. For those that are separated due to wear, they should be used as lamp wicks. Alternatively, they can be pounded and mixed with soil and cow dung to fill holes in pillars and walls, or used for plastering. Co-residents and attendants should inspect bedding and cushions on the eighth and fourteenth days of the month, and also dry them. If there is a threat from thieves, etc., the Sangha should not be deprived of bedding and cushions, but they should be carried away. Whoever carries them should use them when using them. They should not be deprived as if they were elders. If the threat is gone, it should be offered to the Sangha itself. They should be beaten and shaken, and then a piece of old cloth should be used underneath to shake off the dust from the cushions. Bedding and cushions should be laid out. If something is completely worn out, it should be tied to bamboo and used to shake it. All patterned coarse cloths should also be beaten. They should be sewn from time to time. To protect them, meditators should wipe their feet every three days. It should not be done every day. One should not sit on the Sangha's seat and disturb others with tasks such as cooking. Food should also not be taken from the queue. Even salt or vegetables should be called "food" after giving and receiving. Food should not be taken outside the queue. Before sitting down, one should not get up as if treating an elder. One should not sit on the cushion of someone who has gotten up and left. In order not to be separated from it, the dust cloth should be placed on the knees.

Should be done. A low seat strung with ropes belonging to the Sangha should not be given to a novice to sit on. If one maintains mindfulness very closely, there is no transgression. When listening to the Dharma, a low seat strung with ropes should not be given to nuns. For those who are free from desire, it may even be given at night. One should not sit together with a householder, a novice, or a monk who does not naturally reside there, on a single cushion with stuffing, or on a single variegated cloth. Except when such circumstances arise. For example, if a cushion is spread on a platform, there is no transgression. Similarly, one who has received vows and one who has not should not sit on the same cushion, or on a single cushion with stuffing, or on a low seat, or on a single variegated cloth. A junior and a senior should also not sit on the same cushion. There is no transgression in being with someone who is less than three years old, or with someone who is not yet one year old being with someone who is three years old, or with someone who is one year old being with someone who is four years old. In another's house, there is no transgression in sitting together with the preceptor. Up to three people may sit on one bed. Up to two people may sit on a low seat. Only one person may sit on a small low seat. A tattered cloth found on the road should not be used by oneself alone, but should be given to everyone. If there are many, each should be given one. If there is only one, it should be used to cover those who are sleeping. One should not walk around wearing the clothing of many people. One should also tear one's own clothing. Two people should not sleep on one bed. If on the road there is someone who is ashamed and the bed is large, then the bedding should be spread out separately, and a pillow should be placed in between, there is no transgression in sleeping like that. One should not sit on a low seat that has another low seat placed on top of it. If one covers small paths and so forth with long silk robes, in order to make the patrons remember impermanence, to cause others to be discouraged, and to subdue the non-Buddhists, there is no transgression even if one walks on them. For the sake of listening to the Dharma, the Sangha is permitted to spread out cushions, and similarly also a lion throne. One should teach the Dharma to whoever requests it, not to others. There is no transgression for what is left over. The Sangha
