“May there be harmony and may the Uposatha be performed,” thus it is proclaimed two or three times. Similarly, wherever two or three are dwelling, they should also announce to each other in this manner. Some who have entered the path may enter a village, while others may dwell outside. If the time for performing the Uposatha has passed, then each should perform the Uposatha separately. Those dwelling outside should avoid places near the village. If many guests do not wish to stay, then the Uposatha should be performed while traveling. If it is in a vessel, then it should be blessed with the mind. There are six things that are accomplished merely by generating the intention: blessing the Dharma garment, taking out the Dharma garment, examining the Dharma garment, being invited as a guest by another, performing the Uposatha, and making accusations. If the Uposatha is not performed at the time for performing the Uposatha, it becomes a serious offense. If the Uposatha is performed at a time that is not for performing the Uposatha, it also becomes a serious offense. Except for the auspicious Uposatha, which is for the purpose of reconciling the Sangha after a division. The Uposatha for harmony is to purify those who have performed the act of leaving the dwelling and to request the performance of the Uposatha for harmony. The recitation of the Pratimoksha Sutra is said to have five aspects: first, stating the introduction and then making it known that the remainder has been heard; how to state the introduction, reciting the defeat, similarly reciting up to the Sanghavasesha, similarly reciting up to the uncertain, and then making it known that the remainder has been heard; these four and reciting all is the fifth. Who recites? The elder of the Sangha. If he is unable, then the second elder and so on should recite in turn. Or through supplication. If the elder of the Sangha has stated the introduction but has not stated the remainder, then those who are not him should recite the defeat and so on. What is spoken by a madman is also the recitation of the Pratimoksha. Because the assembly is completely pure, he said, "Which of you has an offense?" etc., meaning that there are those who have committed an offense and have not confessed it. This assembly of monks

The name "ྟ་བུར་" is a term of praise. The name "remembrance" means that if there is a transgression but it is not remembered, it will not become false. Because the meaning that should be understood by words is understood by signs, even not speaking at all becomes false. The name "interruption" refers to two times: cutting off virtuous dharmas in this very visible dharma, and going to a happy rebirth in another lifetime. "Desiring purity" means desiring nirvana. It is not for encouragement, punishment, or expulsion. "Three times" means not too few, and not too many. If it is too few, some distractions will not be fully manifested. If it is too many, it will take too long. "Confessing, one will abide touching happiness" means there are five ways: as an antidote to laziness, initiating diligence; as an antidote to the occurrence of faults, generating faultlessness; and with respect as an antidote to despising discipline; as an antidote to regret, not changing; as an antidote to impurity, samadhi; and purity is achieved by knowing the truth as it is. The name "beginning" is because the Pratimoksha Sutra is recited, and after that its recitation occurs. The first recitation of the Pratimoksha Sutra is complete. After that, each basis of training will be explained in twenty-one ways. These twenty-one ways are as follows: beginning, person, fault, basis, affliction, meaning of the word, becoming a transgression, not becoming a transgression, limbs, all-arising, indication, interruption, non-interruption, fault, what should be done, what should not be done, what has been done, what has not been done, heavy, light, common characteristic, what arises, afflicted, not afflicted, the cause of the arising of transgression. The city in which it was established is the beginning. The person on whom the training is based is the person. The fault is whatever is done by the body and speech of the person, that is the fault. The basis is said to be of two kinds: sentient and non-sentient.
