A single mote of sunlight. Six motes of sunlight make one [sro ma] (Tibetan). Six [sro ma] (Tibetan) make one louse. Six lice make one grain of barley. Six grains of barley make one finger. Four fingers and six fingers make one cubit. One and a half cubits plus four fingers is the height of a person. Four cubits make one bow. Five hundred bows make one [རྒྱང་གྲགས་] (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) (krośa, krośa, a unit of distance). One [རྒྱང་གྲགས་] (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) (krośa, krośa, a unit of distance) from the village is a monastery, and the place where there is a temple is the dwelling monastery. The so-called "place of suspicion" refers to a place feared by robbers and deceitful people. The so-called "frightening place" refers to a place feared by lions, tigers, and bears. The so-called "place of fear due to various fears" refers to a place of fear due to various fears of flesh flies, long-beaked mosquitoes, wind, sun, and scorpions. Furthermore, the so-called "any bhikkhu" refers to the group of six bhikkhus or others like them. Which monasteries, the dwelling places of the Sangha, are called "places of suspicion," "frightening places," and "places of fear due to various fears" are like those described earlier. The so-called "never been to before" means never having been to the forest before. The so-called "outside the Sangharama" means outside the temple. The so-called "preparation and eating" refers to five preparations and five eatings. The so-called "took" means through the power of giving and receiving. The so-called "swallowing or eating" means swallowing into the throat. After that bhikkhu went outside the Sangharama, he said to the bhikkhus, "Venerable ones, I have committed an offense that should be confessed separately, please confess separately." Just like before. Therefore, the classification of the fundamental offense here is: if a bhikkhu, at the edge of a forest or monastery one [རྒྱང་གྲགས་] (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Chinese literal meaning) (krośa, krośa, a unit of distance), in a frightening place, in a place that has not been visited, thinking that he is in a monastery outside the Sangharama, takes prepared food and eats it, then it becomes a fundamental offense of separate confession arising from forest distinction. The author here is in a place that has been visited in a frightening place in the forest or monastery.

It is the knower who is the main one. Regarding this, it becomes a fundamental downfall with five branches: namely, the boundary from outside the village up to one yojana (approximately 11-16 kilometers); the forest or monastery becoming a terrifying place; not being rotten, and knowing its location; in a monastery outside the sangharama, oneself or through letters, praises, etc., obtaining food and eating it. If those branches are incomplete, then the offense is reduced accordingly. What arises from forest investigation should be confessed individually, this is the fourth. Reverends, I have finished reciting the four things to be confessed individually, which is the conclusion of reciting the things to be confessed individually. The four things to be confessed individually are the four things mentioned earlier. "Finished reciting" is for the purpose of concluding the meaning of the vow, and it is said to make the listeners happy. Regarding this, I will ask the reverends: Are you pure in this? Are you pure in this? I will ask two or three times. If the reverends are pure in this, then they remain silent. This is how it should be held, that is, the establishment and proclamation of the things to be confessed individually. There, refers to the place where the four things to be confessed individually are taught. The rest is the same as before. The recitation of the things to be confessed individually is finished. Commentary on the Pratimoksha Sutra, Volume 20. Now, many things to be learned will be explained, therefore: In summary: There are seven kinds of lower garments, three kinds of upper garments, five kinds of very subtle restraints, five kinds of head coverings, five kinds of offerings, five kinds of bodies, nine kinds of sitting, and eight kinds of receiving. Thus, and so on, it has been said. In summary, the meaning and necessity of this word are as before. There are seven kinds of lower garments, etc. The first two verses of the summary contain forty-seven things to be learned, which will be taught in order from the text itself below. Reverends, the things to be learned
