They rebuke, saying whether to speak or not. When they were sitting there without saying a word, the monks requested the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said: Therefore, my disciples should recite the basis for training in the Vinaya as follows: To those who are not sick and sitting, one should train not to preach the Dharma while standing. To those who are not sick and lying down, one should train not to preach the Dharma while sitting. To those who are not sick and sitting on a high seat, one should train not to preach the Dharma while sitting on a low seat. To those who are not sick and walking in front, one should train to walk from behind and not preach the Dharma. To those who are not sick and walking on the road, one should train to walk from the side of the road and not preach the Dharma. To those who are not sick and have their heads covered, wrapped, tilted, necks crossed, or backs of their heads crossed, one should train not to preach the Dharma. To those who are not sick and have their hair in a topknot, wear a hat, have a crest on their head, wear a garland on their head, or have their heads wrapped, one should train not to preach the Dharma. To those who are not sick and riding an elephant, riding a horse, sitting in a palanquin, sitting on a vehicle, or wearing shoes, one should train not to preach the Dharma. To those who are not sick and holding a cane in their hand, holding an umbrella in their hand, holding a weapon in their hand, holding a sword in their hand, holding an enemy weapon in their hand, or wearing armor, one should train not to preach the Dharma. Thus, the precepts were established. The place is Shravasti. The persons are the Group of Six. The afflictions are not knowing the teachings and the world. The fault is that the listener is not sick and sitting, but oneself is standing and preaching the Dharma, etc. For these twenty-six trainings, the faults of not doing so should be applied appropriately. Among them, to those who are not sick and sitting, one should train not to preach the Dharma while standing, that is, if the listener is not sick and sitting, the monk should train not to preach the Dharma while standing. From the point of training the monk not to preach the Dharma while standing to those who are not sick and sitting, these twenty-six trainings are through the means of a monk knowing the teachings and the world, by the Buddha, the Blessed One, who, in countless kalpas, perfected the six paramitas through countless hundreds of thousands of austerities, attained the unsurpassed.

Having attained such wisdom. This is a brief exposition of the precepts of reverence for the Dharma, as stated in the auspicious song of one who has realized Suchness, and it is an elaboration of it. It is not an exposition in any other way. One should train not to sit and teach the Dharma to one who is lying down without being ill. That is to say, one should train the Bhikshu not to sit and teach the Dharma to one who is listening to the Dharma and is lying down without being ill. One should train not to sit on a low seat and teach the Dharma to one who is sitting on a high seat without being ill. That is to say, one should train the Bhikshu not to sit on a low seat and teach the Dharma to one who is listening to the Dharma and is sitting on a high seat without being ill. Here, the term 'seat' should also be understood as the place where one sits. The bad seat and the good seat are also the same. When the height of the seats is equal, one should know that the bad seat is low and the good seat is high. Here, the text states that the venerable Sguro requested, 'They are sitting on good seats listening to the Dharma, and I am sitting on a bad seat teaching the Dharma.' The Blessed One replied, 'One should not teach the Dharma in that way.' One should train not to walk behind and teach the Dharma to one who is walking in front without being ill. That is to say, one should train the Bhikshu not to walk behind and teach the Dharma to one who is listening to the Dharma and is walking in front without being ill. One should train not to walk on the side of the road and teach the Dharma to one who is walking on the road without being ill. That is to say, one should train the Bhikshu not to walk on the side of the road and teach the Dharma to one who is listening to the Dharma and is walking on the road without being ill. One should train not to teach the Dharma to one who is not ill and is wearing a hat, wrapping the head, tilting the head, crossing the arms in front of the neck, or excessively crossing the arms. That is to say, one should train the Bhikshu not to teach the Dharma to one who is not ill and is wearing a hat, wrapping the head, tilting the head, crossing the arms in front of the neck, or excessively crossing the arms. Such characteristics as these have already been explained in order, i.e., 'the five types of wearing a hat, etc.' One should train not to teach the Dharma to one who is not ill and has matted hair, is wearing a hat, has a crest of hair, has a garland of flowers on the head, or has a cloth wrapped around the head. That is to say, one should train not to teach the Dharma to one who is not ill and has matted hair, is wearing a hat, has a crest of hair,
