It is like that. Regarding the essence of practice and the practice of practice, if there is anything inappropriate, it should be reproached as mentioned before. The sixty-second precept is complete. The origin of the precept to eat without breaking food is: The Buddha Bhagavan was in Shravasti, residing in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. When the Six Groups of monks were eating in other people's homes, they would take half of the food and put it in their mouths, and half would fall into their bowls. The Brahmins and faithful patrons saw this and reproached them, saying: These venerable ones beg for food like children and gluttons. This is not proper, do not eat like this. They said: Wise ones, there is a need for this. Venerable ones, what is the need? First of all, you yourselves do not understand, and you have also been educated. Hearing them reproaching greatly, at that time the monks reported to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan thought: Those householders' words are true. So, as before, he established the precept to eat without breaking food. The location was Shravasti, the people were the Six Groups of monks, the affliction was impropriety, and the fault was breaking food and eating it. Among them, to eat without breaking food means not to break food and eat it. One should learn to eat well in this way. Here, the establishment of the fundamental transgression is that in the fundamental situation, if one does not do it that way, it will become the basis of the offense of confession. The agent here is breaking food and the food itself. The branch here is one, which is the essence of the fundamental practice. Regarding the essence of practice and the practice of practice, if there is anything inappropriate, it should be reproached as mentioned before. The sixty-third precept is complete. The summary verse says: Licking hands and other five things. The summarized sutra that is spoken of is: not licking hands, not dirtying the bowl, not rubbing hands, not shaking the bowl, not eating after destroying something like a stupa, one should learn these. Among them, learning to eat without licking hands

Introduction: The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park, in Shravasti. The group of six monks, when eating food in other people's homes, would lick their hands. The monks said: "Venerable ones, why do you do such an unseemly thing?" They said: "Venerable ones, we are attached to the essence of what is there." When they were being reproached, the monks reported this to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan, as before, made a rule, instructing them to eat without licking their hands. The place was Shravasti, the people were the group of six, the affliction was unseemliness, the fault was licking their hands while eating. Among these, not licking the hands means not licking what remains, so that one may eat properly. Here, the establishment of the actual downfall is that, in the stage of the actual practice, if one does not do so, it becomes the basis for a fault that must be confessed. The agent of this is licking the hands and the food itself. There is only one branch to this, which is the practice of the actual itself. In the application and the practice of the application, according to the circumstances, there is reproach, as before. This is the sixty-fourth training. Introduction to the training of eating without soiling the bowl: The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park, in Shravasti. The group of six monks, when eating food in other people's homes, would soil their bowls. The monks said: "Venerable ones, why do you do such an unseemly thing?" They said: "Venerable ones, we are attached to the essence of what is there." When they were being reproached, the monks reported this to the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan, as before, made a rule, instructing them to eat without soiling the bowl. The place was Shravasti, the people were the group of six, the affliction was unseemliness, the fault was soiling the bowl. Among these, not soiling the bowl means not soiling the bowl that should be soiled with one's fingers, so that one may eat properly.
