Not taking the alms bowl, and again, not covering the vegetables with rice for the sake of desire, not covering the rice with vegetables, and not holding the alms bowl on top of food and utensils, these are what should be learned. The basis for learning to take food well is: The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in the terrifying garden of the mountain of Water-born Giving Killing, in the forest of deer. When Prince Knowing Meaning invited the Sangha of monks to the lotus palace painted with one hundred and one colors to offer them food, Prince Knowing Meaning had faith, but the retinue did not, and some of the questioners were breaking the monks' alms bowls, and the Six Groups discussed, 'These people are not happy.' When they mixed rice and vegetables, the Six Groups threw the alms bowls out and scattered them everywhere. They said, 'Venerable ones, you have defiled the ground of the lotus palace painted with one hundred and one colors of Prince Knowing Meaning.' They said, 'Miserly ones, you are not happy when the ground is defiled, so what should be done when the monks' alms bowls are broken?' Having heard this, at that time the monks requested the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan, as before, established the training, saying, 'One should train in taking food well.' The place was the mountain of Water-born Giving Killing, the persons were the Six Groups, the affliction was pride, and the fault was not taking food well. Among them, 'taking food well' is not only in the village, but also in other places, one should train in taking the giving of food well. 'One should train in taking food well,' this is a general outline, and the seven that appear below, such as 'one should train in taking food' without interruption, are an elaboration of this, and not another explanation. Among them, here, the establishment of the actual transgression is: in the actual situation, if one does not train in that way, then one will become an actual transgression due to the misdeed of confession. The agent here is not taking food well and the food itself. There is one branch here, namely, the actual transgression.

It is the accomplishment itself. The accomplishment of the application and the application of the application, etc., as appropriate, are said to be reprehensible, as before. The fortieth training. The basis for the training of not taking food to the edge and overflowing is: The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was staying in the place of the Shakyas, on the mountain of the crocodile killing children (around 6th century BC, near present-day Tilaurakot, Nepal), in the forest of deer in the garden of the fearful elder. The Six Groups of monks went to the house of Prince Realized to beg for alms. At first, they took as much rice as would fill their bowls. The almsgivers said: Venerables, where shall we pour the leftovers? They said: Pour them here. After they poured them there, they sprinkled dust on top of it, and then they said: Venerables, you have soiled the ground of the palace of Prince Realized, which is painted with one hundred and one kinds of lotus colors. They said: Miserly ones, for the time being, Prince Realized is not particularly attached to this, and it is not known where he will be reborn, but you are particularly attached to this, and you will be reborn among the pus-filled pretas. At that time, the monks reported to the Bhagavan, and the Bhagavan, as before, established that food should not be taken to the edge and overflowing. The place was the mountain of the crocodile killing children, the people were the Six Groups, the affliction was not knowing the difference, and the fault was taking food to the edge and overflowing. Among them, the word "edge" in "not taking food to the edge and overflowing" refers to the edge of the bowl's mouth. In any case, food should not be taken to the edge and overflowing. One should train well in taking food in this way. Among them, here the fundamental transgressions are classified: In the fundamental situation, if one does not train in this way, it will become the basis for an act of wrongdoing that must be confessed. The agent here is the one who takes to the edge and overflowing, and the food itself. Here, there is one branch, which is the accomplishment of the fundamental. The accomplishment of the application and the application of the application, etc., as appropriate, are said to be reprehensible, as before. The fortieth
