Because of wanting the good. If one seeks another new bowl, and obtains a bowl, it is an offense of expiation involving forfeiture. That monk should distribute that bowl to the community of monks. Whichever is the last bowl remaining in that community of monks, it should be given to that monk, (saying) "Monk, you should not bless this bowl, do not abandon it, do not give it to others, but slowly, gradually use it until it is completely broken," thus it should be given. Regarding this, it was established that this is the ritual. The place is Shravasti (Jetavana). The person is Nanda. The afflictions are desire and hatred. The fault is having a bowl and possessing it, yet seeking another bowl. Regarding this, the term "monk" refers to the person of this Dharma. "A bowl without five patches" means a bowl that does not have five patches complete. "Although able to use" means although able to fully enjoy. "Because of wanting the good" means because of wanting the excellent. "A new bowl" means there are two kinds of new: new by being new, and new by being obtained. The meaning here is that both are intended. "Other" means the second. "Seeking" means is seeking. "If a bowl is obtained" means if a bowl is obtained. "It is an offense of expiation involving forfeiture" means it is the same as before. From here onwards, it explains the ritual of distributing and using useless bowls, etc. "That monk" means that one who is called a monk. "That bowl" means that useless bowl. "Should be distributed to the community of monks" means to the monks who are dwelling there. Whichever is the last bowl remaining in that community of monks, it should be given to that monk, (saying) "Monk, you should not bless this bowl, do not abandon it, do not give it to others, but slowly, gradually use it until it is completely broken," thus it should be given. The explanation of this is: A monk should be pleased to distribute the useless bowl of the Sangha to a monk who possesses five qualities, and announce it through a request and two karmas, and he should also use it universally as prescribed by the Vinaya.

Thus, it should be announced to the Sangha one day in advance, and distributed at the time of the Sangha assembly. Whatever is the last bowl obtained by the Bhikshu Sangha, it should be given to that Bhikshu, and the Bhikshu should be told: You should not bless this bowl, you should not abandon it, you should not give it to others, but you should gradually and slowly use it until the very end of its breaking. For a Bhikshu who holds an unrelated bowl, it should also be placed in a good container, dry rice flour should be taken, placed on the mandala, cleaned first, placed in a good hole, cleaned and maintained by burning, etc., placed in a good container, worn by oneself, worn on the right shoulder, worn until the end of life, etc., should be done as stated in the scriptures. The so-called "that is the ritual" means that it is the Dharma that corresponds to it. Here, the fundamental downfall is distinguished: If the Bhikshu has a bowl with less than four patches, and those bowls are suitable and can be used, but because he wants a better bowl, he begs from non-relative laypeople through verbal expression, completely seeking, and if successful, it will become the root of offending the Nissaggiya Pacittiya. The author of this matter is: possessing a bowl without five patches, being usable, and seeking another bowl because he wants a better one. The five limbs of this matter will lead to the fundamental downfall: possessing the bowl itself, wanting a better bowl, seeking from non-relative laypeople, seeking by begging through verbal expression, and obtaining the bowl. If those limbs are not complete, they will be blamed accordingly. The Nissaggiya Pacittiya of seeking a bowl, the twenty-second. The origin of the Nissaggiya Pacittiya of causing weaving is: The Buddha Bhagavan lived in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden. The Upasakas thought, these people are all bound by Anathapindika's precepts, and in the future even a small piece of cloth
