If the action is incomplete, it will be blamed. This is the twentieth precept regarding trade. Summary: Two bowls, two looms, giving and taking, autumn harvest month, small, monastery, coarse cloth, dedication, and storage. This is called the third of ten, the necessity of the summary and the meaning of the words are the same as before. This third of ten also reveals the ten dharmas of abandonment, namely holding a bowl, seeking a bowl, causing it to be woven, producing weaving, seizing, arising from deception, separating for seven days, summer coarse cloth, transforming from dedication, and storage. Among them, the origin of the matter of abandoning holding a bowl is: The Buddha, the World Honored One, was in Shravasti, residing in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, the six groups of monks accumulated all the bowls they obtained, neither using them themselves nor giving them to other monks, so the monks with few desires rebuked them, saying: Why do the monks accumulate all the bowls they obtain, neither using them themselves nor giving them to other monks? They blamed each other and spoke ill of each other. At that time, the monks reported this matter to the World Honored One. Then, the World Honored One, as before, established the precept, saying: A monk should hold the remaining bowl for a maximum of ten days. If he holds it beyond this limit, he commits abandonment. The place is Shravasti, the people are the six groups of monks, the affliction is wanting to do things that do not conform to the behavior of a Shramana, and the fault is holding the remaining bowl for more than ten days. Among them, "monk" refers to the one who upholds this Dharma. "Remaining bowl" refers to the bowl that exceeds the blessed one. "Between ten days" refers to between the end of ten days and nights. "Should hold" means should possess. "If he holds it beyond this limit" means if he holds it beyond this limit. "Commits abandonment" means the same as before. Among them, the characteristic of abandoning holding a bowl is: The characteristic of abandoning holding clothes has been revealed before.

It is the same as all (other trainings), but especially, where the word "clothing" was mentioned before, here the word "bowl" should be added. Where it was mentioned before that it "possesses the characteristic of covering the three realms," here it should be said that it "possesses the limit of the small, medium, and large sizes that can be blessed." Now, here, the root downfall is established separately: If a monk has a bowl that can be blessed, possessing the limit of the small, medium, and large sizes, but it has not been blessed and has continued for ten days, when the first dawn of the eleventh day rises, it becomes the root of the relinquishment downfall of holding a bowl. The agent of this offense is: not having blessed one's own bowl. This offense becomes a root downfall with seven limbs: one's own, the bowl, the limit of the three sizes that can be blessed, having, not having been blessed, having continued for ten days, and the dawn of the eleventh day having risen. If these limbs are not complete, then according to the circumstances, an offense is committed. The relinquishment offense of holding a bowl, that is, the twenty-first (rule). The basis of the relinquishment offense of seeking a bowl is: The Buddha The Blessed One was dwelling in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Park. At that time, there was a boy selling incense in Shravasti, and he found a bowl that was very clean, well-shaped, and fit for use. He went to a mendicant monk, and Near-Given heard that he did not want it, and began to ask him for it. The boy selling incense did not give it to him for free, and Near-Given had a householder pay for it, took the bowl, went to the temple, and showed off and boasted to the monks. Some monks with few desires scolded: Why do monks who already have bowls seek other bowls? They rebuked, they ridiculed. At that time, the monks reported this to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One said as before: Furthermore, any monk who does not have a bowl with five patches, and although he has one that can be used, still wants a good one
