Six cubits high and roads, etc., rubbing and gold and silver, etc., those with obvious signs and doing business. This is called the twentieth, and the necessity and meaning of the word "in summary" are the same as before. This twentieth also shows ten things to be abandoned as causes of downfall, namely: silk cotton and, pure black wool and, mixing the two and, holding for six years and, six cubits and, taking wool and, causing wool to rot and, touching gold and silver and, the behavior of those with obvious signs and, doing business. These should also be relied upon, its cause and, the domination of the root of affliction of being very attached to doing business, and the five topics and, three and, two should be expanded in order. Among them, the topic of abandoning silk cotton is: The Buddha Bhagavan was staying in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove of Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, the monks were making silk cotton cushions and, causing (others) to do so. Because silk cotton was rare and precious, there were many things to do and many things to do, and it hindered listening and, reading and, reciting and, meditation and, attention and, the inner peace of mind. Wanting silk cotton and, coming for the sake of silk cotton, the Brahmins and householders also repeatedly recognized. Other heretics, knowledgeable people, said that these Shakyaputra monks are killers, and they have not turned away from killing, have not abandoned it, have not separately abandoned it. Therefore, they make silk cotton cushions and, cause (others) to do so. They make silk cotton cushions and, cause (others) to do so, thereby gathering many insect lives arising from silk cotton and killing them. Who would offer food to these shaven-headed monks and, think it is merit? Abandon (them), curse. At that time, the monks reported to the Bhagavan. Then, the Bhagavan, as before, again ordained: If any monk makes a silk cotton cushion, he commits a downfall requiring expiation. The place was Shravasti, the people were many monks, the afflictions were greed and anger, the fault was silk.

It is a silk cushion. Among them, what is meant by "bhikshu"? It refers to the one who possesses this Dharma. What is meant by "silk"? It refers to the silk produced from silkworms. What is meant by "cushion"? There are two types of cushions: those with fillings and those that are spread out. The meaning here refers to both. What is meant by "new"? There are two types of "new": new because it is made of new materials, and new because it is acquired. The meaning here refers to the one made of new materials. What is meant by "making"? Is it making it oneself, or having others make it? The meaning of "should be relinquished and atoned for" is the same as before. Among them, here the fundamental offense is classified: A bhikshu uses new silk threads, strands, or clumps to make a cushion with fillings or a spread-out cushion, whether he makes it himself or has others make it, at the time of the first spreading, he commits the fundamental offense of silk, which should be relinquished and atoned for. The perpetrator of this offense is the one who makes a new silk cushion with fillings or a spread-out cushion that meets the size requirements or exceeds them. This offense is constituted by five limbs as a fundamental offense: silk, new, cushion, making, and the first spreading upon completion of the making. If these limbs are incomplete, then a minor offense is committed accordingly. The silk relinquishment offense is the eleventh.\\ \\ The origin of the relinquishment offense of pure black wool is: The Buddha Bhagavan was residing in Shravasti, in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, the bhikshus were making or having others make new cushions of pure black wool. Because pure black wool is rare and precious, there were many affairs and much making, which hindered the study of scriptures, recitation, yoga, contemplation, and the practice of inner peace. They coveted pure black wool, came and went for the sake of pure black wool, and repeatedly demanded it from Brahmins and householders. Therefore, the bhikshus with few desires rebuked them, drove them away, and spoke harshly to them. At that time, the bhikshus reported to the Bhagavan. Then, the Bhagavan, as before, again ordained: Any bhikshu who makes a new cushion of pure black wool commits an offense that should be relinquished and atoned for.
