If one receives clothes from a non-relative, except for exchange, it is a Nissaggiya Pacittiya, thus it was established. The place is Shravasti. The person is Nanda. The defilements are desire and anger. The offense is a Bhikkhuni receiving clothes from a non-relative. Among them, Bhikkhu refers to Nanda, or anyone else like him. Bhikkhuni refers to those who believe in this Dharma. Non-relative refers to maternal grandmother, great-grandfather, and up to the seventh generation of descendants are relatives, beyond that they are not relatives. Clothes refer to any of the seven types of clothes, namely woolen cloth, linen cloth, hemp cloth, coarse cotton cloth, cotton-wool cloth, Kautamba cloth, and Niyoka cloth. Receiving refers to taking possession. Except for exchange refers to setting aside the exchange. Nissaggiya Pacittiya refers to the same as before. Then, monks, in order to prohibit the requesting of clothes from householders or the wives of householders who are not relatives, as before. Furthermore, if any monk goes to a householder or the wife of a householder who is not a relative and asks for clothes, unless it is a special circumstance, it is an offense entailing forfeiture. The special circumstances are: if a monk's clothes are robbed, lost, burned, blown away by the wind, or carried away by water, in such cases, it is a special circumstance. The World Honored One thus established the precepts. The place was Sravasti. The person was Nanda. The afflictions were desire and anger.
