Or, should I initiate construction that should not be started, and have a house built for me without an owner? Haven't I taken the monks to see the foundation? Haven't I shown the foundation to the monks I took? "Exceeding the limit" means violating what was said above, and having it built exceeding the limit as stated above. "Saṃghāvaśeṣa" is as before. So, here the fundamental offense is classified: If a monk seeks land and implements from elsewhere, the land is impure, and without informing the Saṃgha, he builds or has built a house exceeding the limit for the sake of one person, it will eventually become a Saṃghāvaśeṣa when completed. Its distinction is that the monk who confesses the offense seeks the land for the house from the walking place of anyone, even from a renunciate of this order, and also seeks the implements for the house, such as wood, grass, labor, vehicles, bricks, wages, etc., from elsewhere. The land is impure, unsuitable, disputed, should not be started, and without informing the Saṃgha, for the sake of himself alone, or another monk, or any householder, the width of the house itself, the length is eighteen cubits according to the standard, and the width is eleven and a half cubits according to the standard, he builds it himself, or has others build it for himself, or he himself has others build it, and when it is completed, it will eventually become the basis of Saṃghāvaśeṣa. The author here is building a house without examining the land and implements. This has five branches that will become a fundamental offense: the land, seeking implements from elsewhere, the land is impure and uninformed, for the sake of one person, exceeding the limit, and completion. If these branches are incomplete, it will become inferior according to the situation. The Saṃghāvaśeṣa of the house, which is the sixth. The story of the Saṃghāvaśeṣa of the monastery is: The Buddha Bhagavan was residing in the Ghosita Garden in Kauśāmbī. The group of six monks were staying in a monastery built by others, and were condemned by the mocking monks, and the venerable Udāyin generated pride. Therefore, in Kauśāmbī, the Brahmins were wealthy, with much wealth, great enjoyment, and completely possessed a wide

Generous. A miser, with small eyes. Not even giving offerings to crows. He seemed to possess everything. Having generated faith, he praised the seven bases of merit arising from material things, and promised to build a temple, donating karshapanas, and the long-lived Ajahn also obtained land from King Pasenadi of Kosala, and allowed it to be built wherever he liked. Between Kaushambi and the Singing Grove, there was a sacred tree, and under that tree, there was a Brahmin group with many trees. When five hundred Brahmin boys were being taught to recite the secret mantras of the Brahmins, those five hundred Brahmin boys were the Six Groups of monks. When they entered and left for alms, they felt heartbroken by the repeated ridicule. The Six Groups of monks at night cut down the roots of the sacred tree of those five hundred Brahmin boys and discarded it, making the traces disappear. Then they began to build a temple there. The behavior of those Shakya practitioners is speech. The behavior of the Brahmins is speech, like this, the sacred trees were also cut down, they ridiculed and slandered. Through word of mouth, the group of residents in Kaushambi, and those who lived in different places also heard. Those people also ridiculed, slandered, and insulted in the streets, alleys, and crossroads. Those who did not have faith, even when they did not give food to those who went for alms. The monks reported to the Blessed One. Then, because of this event, this origin, and this occasion, the Blessed One convened the monastic community of monks, and fully saw the ten benefits of establishing precepts. My disciples should recite the basis for learning the Vinaya in this way: If a monk is to build a large temple for the benefit of the Sangha, in order to observe the foundation, that monk should lead the monks. The monks who are led should also observe whether the foundation is suitable, without dispute, and can be started. If a monk

Is the land unsuitable? Or is it disputed? Or does it have an owner who does not allow construction? Is a large monastery being built for the sake of the Sangha? In order to inspect the site, are the monks not being led? If the monks who are led do not show the gestures, then the Sanghadisesa offense is enacted. The place is Kauśāmbī, and the people are six. The affliction is the inability to tolerate contempt. The offense is the construction of a large monastery. Among them, "bhikshu" refers to the group of six bhikshus or others who hold this Dharma. "Having an owner" means having an owner, or having a man, woman, or hermaphrodite. "For the sake of the Sangha" means for the sake of the Sangha of the Tathagata's Shravakas. "Monastery" refers to a place that can accommodate the four conducts, namely walking, standing, sitting, and lying down. "Large" refers to two kinds of large, namely giving and size. Here, it refers to the large of giving, not the size. If "to build," it means by oneself or by others. In "In order to inspect the site, that bhikshu should gather the bhikshus," "in order to inspect the site" means in order to see whether the land is suitable, without dispute, and allowed to be built. "That bhikshu" refers to the holder of this Dharma. "Should gather the bhikshus" means that there are those bhikshus who are there, but it is not the case that as soon as the eyes see the site, all the bhikshus should be gathered. If that site is unsuitable, disputed, and not allowed to be built, then it should not be indicated. If that site is suitable, without dispute, and allowed to be built, then that bhikshu should, in the monastery, from the Sangha, through reciting three times the request ritual and mantra for indicating the site of the monastery, request to indicate the site of the monastery. After that, the bhikshus should also not go there casually because they trust that bhikshu, but rather the entire Sangha should go there, or the Sangha should also entrust the designated bhikshus to the bhikshus. Those people should look at that site with their eyes, and if that site is unsuitable, disputed,
