Only in front of the Du ba, up to the end of the previous Uposatha, one should individually recall the transgressions of the half-month. If one knows and sees the transgressions, one should request permission from a single bhikshu. After confessing the transgressions, the bhikshu who grants purification asks, 'Do you see the transgressions?' One replies, 'I see them.' Then he asks, 'Will you observe the precepts from now on?' One replies, 'I will observe them.' He asks this three times, and the bhikshu also replies. Similarly, for such a sangha of bhikshus, it should also be proclaimed three times. This refers to the method of establishing the topic. 'For such a sangha of bhikshus also' refers to the sangha reciting the Pratimoksha Sutra, it should be proclaimed three times. 'It should be proclaimed' refers to the words for establishing the topic that will be proclaimed below, namely, 'Therefore, I, venerable ones, are you completely pure in this?' He asks this two or three times. 'If the venerable ones are completely pure in this, then do not speak, therefore, accept it as such.' Just as it appears in the Pratimoksha text, one should recite it once in order, without confusing the words. After reciting it once, 'he asks,' and 'he asks two or three times,' this itself indicates that it has been proclaimed three times. That phrase is superfluous here, it does not need to be proclaimed, and the text for establishing the topic has already been explained earlier. Therefore, it is not necessary to proclaim it three times here either. After that, the meaning of the branches of the faults of impurity should be explained. 'Again, which bhikshu' does not refer to a specific one, but generally indicates anyone. 'When proclaimed three times to such a sangha of bhikshus' refers to reciting the words for establishing the topic that will be proclaimed below during the recitation of the Pratimoksha Sutra. After reciting it once, 'he asks,' and 'he mentions two or three times,' this itself indicates that it has been proclaimed two or three times. However, the words for establishing the topic should not be proclaimed three times.

The so-called "transgression" refers to not having repented properly according to the Dharma before. The so-called "knowingly not confessing" means that here it mainly refers to conscious people, so there is no transgression for the unconscious, but knowingly not confessing will lead to transgression. Hesitation is the same as consciousness, so hesitating to eat without blessing or repenting will also lead to transgression. The so-called "knowingly telling a lie" means that there are five types of lies: leading to downfall, leading to sanghavasesa, leading to a serious offense, leading to a falling offense, and leading to a misdeed. Among them, the lie that leads to downfall refers to changing one's view and saying that one has attained superhuman qualities. The lie that leads to sanghavasesa refers to changing one's view, fabricating something out of nothing, or slightly slandering. The lie that leads to a serious offense refers to when the Sangha is divided, knowingly saying that what is not Dharma is Dharma, and what is Dharma is not Dharma, when the Sangha is assembled. This refers to the fault in the case of telling a lie that leads to downfall. The lie that leads to a falling offense refers to lies other than the first three and the lie that leads to a misdeed, that is, changing one's view on an object where the meaning is understood. Telling a lie is established according to consciousness, not according to the thing itself. The lie that leads to a misdeed refers to what is said in this text, that is, during the Posadha, when asked three times "Are you pure?", knowingly not being pure but not speaking and passing through, so it is said that this is a misdeed. This is actually completing the misdeed, but not through intention, but through verbal and other actions. Therefore, if knowingly telling a lie is impure, then what is the fault of impurity? Therefore, the Blessed One said that a virtuous person who knowingly tells a lie is a Dharma that obstructs liberation, as spoken by the Blessed One. Because telling a lie is a natural offense, one cannot receive full ordination, one will degenerate, one will commit the five heinous crimes, one will become a heretic, and one will go to another place.
