The act of not sowing seeds, and sowing them in the third house and so on. In the evening, the fundamental transgression is constituted by three branches: namely, the evening itself, the act of not sowing seeds, and sowing them in the fourth house and so on. If these branches are incomplete, then they are reproached accordingly. This is the transgression of wandering in the city, which is the eighty-first. Commentary on the Sutra of Individual Liberation, Volume Eighteen. The basis for the transgression of going to the royal palace at night is as follows: The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Jeta Grove in Shravasti, in the garden of Anathapindika. Then, the Bhagavan said to the venerable Mahamoggallana: After subduing the Naga kings Nanda and Upananda, King Prasenajit of Kosala, relying on this, invited the Bhagavan and the Sangha of monks to the royal palace to receive offerings for seven days. At that time, in Shravasti, the wicked householder Good Gift, the householder Harmony, the householder Morality Merchant, and Prince Black requested the Bhagavan for the Abhidharma and the Vinaya. The Bhagavan also gave them answers from the beginning to the end. King Prasenajit of Kosala also sat looking at their faces. After listening to the Dharma-related talk for a while, he bowed to the feet of the Bhagavan with his head, stood up from his seat, and left. He entered the abode of the consorts and said to the consort Garland Woman: Garland Woman, today the wicked householder Good Gift, the householder Harmony, the householder Morality Merchant, and Prince Black requested the Bhagavan for the Abhidharma and the Vinaya. The Bhagavan also gave them answers from the beginning to the end, and I also sat looking at their faces silently, then stood up and left. Garland Woman said: Lord, why didn't you ask the Bhagavan? Garland Woman, I have little learning, and they have much learning, what could I ask? Lord, why don't you recite the Buddha's teachings? Garland

Homage! I am always separated from the affairs of the king and the actions of the king, how can I read? If some of you read the words of the Buddha, I will read you at night. The gods did so. The king appointed the venerable Shariputra as the teacher of Queen Royal Lineage Summer Increase Mother, and the venerable Ajakaga as the teacher of Queen Garland Mother, and had them both teach them to read. The venerable Shariputra was a knower of time and a discerner of time, so he went on time and would not go when it was not the time for Queen Royal Lineage Summer Increase Mother to read. The venerable Ajakaga was an ignorant of time and untimely, so he sometimes went on time to teach Queen Garland Mother to read, and sometimes went at inappropriate times. Once, King Light King of Kosala had some business at another rock, and on that very night, the Venerable and the Venerable Ajakaga were awakened by the sound of elephants, the sound of horses, and the sound of conch shells. He thought: I am going to give the mantra to Queen Garland Mother. So he went to the gate of the royal palace and entered, and Queen Garland Mother was sleeping. He woke her up with the sound of a bell, and she prostrated at his feet, changed into clothes suitable for the queen's attendants, put on thick clothes and sat down. The venerable Ajakaga recited the mantra on that ground, and also received an offering. Queen Garland Mother filled the bowl with clean and beautiful food and offered it to him. The venerable Ajakaga took the bowl and came out, and met the venerable Shariputra who was about to enter. He said: Have you exhausted your afflictions with such little effort? You are only coming now. I have already recited the mantra and received another offering, and I have also received this bowl filled with clean and beautiful food. The venerable Shariputra said: Therefore, you are one of the Six Groups of Monks. Why be content with little desire? Monks, before dawn, before the morning light appears, are they jewels? Without collecting things called jewels, the king, the royal family, on the top of the head.

Is the gate of empowerment closed? They revile, saying that they go beyond the vicinity of the closed gate. They throw stones and speak ill of them. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. Then, as before, the Blessed One made the following rule: "If any monk, before dawn and before the light of dawn has risen, without taking away the jewels or the mentioned jewels, enters the gate of empowerment of a king or a kshatriya, or goes beyond the vicinity of the closed gate, except for such a cause, he commits a downfall." The place was Shravasti, the person was Charka, the affliction was not knowing the time, and the offense was going to the royal palace at night. "Again, any monk" refers to Charka, or anyone else like him. "Before dawn" means before it is dark. "Before the light of dawn has risen" means that there are three kinds of dawn: the first dawn, the middle dawn, and the last dawn. Among them, the first dawn appears blue, the middle dawn appears yellow, and the last dawn appears red, and here it refers to the last dawn. "Not risen" means not appeared. "Jewels" means: Jewels refer to jewels, pearls, lapis lazuli, conch shells, coral, gold, silver, the essence of gems, turquoise, rubies, and right-handed conch shells. "Mentioned jewels" refers to: all the weapons used on the battlefield and all the instruments used for entertainment. "Without taking away" means without taking away. "Empowerment of a king or a kshatriya" means: for example, if empowering a kshatriya woman is also considered empowerment, that is also considered empowerment of a king or a kshatriya. Empowering a kshatriya caste, a brahmin caste, a vaishya caste, or a shudra caste is also considered empowerment, and that is also considered empowerment of a king or a kshatriya. "Is the gate closed?" means that there are three kinds of closed gates: the city gate, the gate of the royal palace, and the gate of the harem, and the vicinity of the closed gate.
