Thus he spoke. Then, the Venerable Asvajit obtained the state of an Arhat, and while experiencing the joy and bliss of liberation, he thought to himself: The Blessed One has benefited me, has done well for me. In this way, the Blessed One has eliminated many of my sufferings, accomplished many virtuous things, eliminated many sinful and unwholesome things, and accomplished many virtuous things. What should I do to repay, be close to, and be extremely close to the Blessed One? He thought again: All the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, through hundreds of thousands of countless hardships, have perfected the six paramitas over three countless kalpas and realized the unsurpassed wisdom, all for the benefit of sentient beings. I should also benefit sentient beings. He thought: Has the Blessed One ever taught who is the best among the faithful householders? He saw that there was none. He thought, who should I look to? He saw that he should look to himself, and thought, 'Excellent, I will fulfill the intention of the Teacher.' Then, gradually, for the sake of taming beings, he entered Shravasti and tamed and settled more than five hundred families, starting from the first ten Brahmin families. Then the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, among my disciples, the best of the faithful householders is this black monk Asvajit. Then again, the Venerable Asvajit also tamed a Brahmin mantra practitioner in Shravasti who controlled non-humans to pull chariots, and one who boasted of great strength, and made them both attain the state of Arhat. He also knew that a householder's wife had an affair with a fierce vow, or a bandit leader, a strong man, and an adulterer. The Venerable Asvajit knew that the woman was indulging in desire, so he spoke to her without praising desire. He thought: The noble Asvajit is skilled in the minds of others,

Then that wicked woman thought: If I don't kill him, he will harm my family, he will harm me. I must kill him. So she said to the leader of the thieves' army: You kill him. The leader of the thieves' army said: I will not kill him. Because he is a friend of the younger brother of King Pasenadi of Kosala, and he is the teacher of Queen Mallika. If I kill him, the king will put me in a firewood room and burn me to death, and I will face such a situation. That woman said: If you kill him, that's good. If you don't kill him, you will not enter my house again. Because those who crave pleasure will do anything sinful. The leader of the thieves' army said: If he is skilled at knowing the minds of others, how should I kill him? That woman said: Think of a way. So at an inappropriate time, she sent someone to invite the venerable Kālaka, sending a message saying: Venerable Kālaka, I want to see you, would you please come and see me? Arhats do not know and see without a reason. So the venerable Kālaka also went at an inappropriate time, taught her the Dharma, and then wanted to leave. That woman said: Holy one, I am very happy to see you, please sit for a moment. So she kept the venerable Kālaka until it was very late. The leader of the thieves' army also drew his sword and stood at the door. Afterwards, when the venerable Kālaka came out, the leader of the thieves' army, a man without compassion, who had abandoned the next world, cut off the head of the venerable Kālaka and knocked him to the ground. These two, without compassion, who had abandoned the next world, hid the body of the venerable Kālaka in a pile of garbage. That day, at the Uposatha gathering, some elderly elders were sitting nearby, and some said: Has the wish of the venerable Kālaka been fulfilled? There is no venerable Kālaka. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks:

Monks, kill that best of the faithful householders. Tear the Dharma robes into pieces, and make offerings to his body. The Blessed One is the noble one! When the gates of Shravasti were closed, the Blessed One emitted a golden light. This light illuminated all of Shravasti, making it appear like the color of refined gold. King Prasenajit of Kosala, seeing this, wondered what had happened. He had no doubt that the Blessed One had passed away. So, he, along with his queen and retinue, took the keys of Shravasti and opened the gates. The Blessed One had already arrived in Shravasti. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are difficult to approach and difficult to endure. Therefore, he could not report to the Buddha, the Blessed One. The Blessed One, along with the Sangha of monks, proceeded forward. King Prasenajit of Kosala, with his queen and retinue, followed closely behind. When they arrived at the side of the pile of sweepings. Then, the Blessed One said to the monks: Monks, dig out the best of the faithful householders who is buried here. When he was dug out, those who, relying on life and wealth, had seen the noble truths, requested: He is our virtuous friend, Blessed One, would you allow us to make offerings to his body? The Blessed One did not allow it. King Prasenajit of Kosala requested: He is my young friend, Blessed One, would you allow me to make offerings to his body? The Blessed One did not allow it. Queen Mallika requested: He is my teacher, Blessed One, would you allow me to make offerings to his body? The Blessed One allowed it. Then, Queen Mallika had the body of the venerable Acharya wrapped in white cloth, bathed in perfumed water, and placed in a coffin made of various colored cloths, and placed it there. Then, the Blessed One, with the Sangha of Shravasti, proceeded forward, and the king and queen's retinue followed closely behind.
