Shinī. When the Buddha, the Bhagavan Shakya, was traveling through various lands, he arrived at Kapilavastu and resided in the Nyagrodha garden in Kapilavastu. Shakya Mingchen heard this and thought: 'I have invited the Bhagavan and the Sangha of monks to other homes many times for offerings, but I have never invited them with all the necessary provisions. I should invite the Bhagavan and the Sangha of monks for four months with all the necessary provisions.' Then, Shakya Mingchen went to where the Bhagavan was. Upon arriving, he bowed his head to the feet of the Bhagavan and sat to one side. Having sat to one side, the Bhagavan taught Shakya Mingchen with a Dharma-related discourse, truly revealing, truly causing him to understand, truly uplifting him, and truly delighting him. In many ways, with a Dharma-related discourse, he truly revealed, truly caused him to understand, truly uplifted him, and truly delighted him, and then remained silent. Then, Shakya Mingchen rose from his seat, folded his palms towards the Bhagavan, and said to the Bhagavan: 'Bhagavan, please allow me to offer the Sangha of monks clothing, food, lodging, medicine, and other necessities for four months.' The Bhagavan did not say anything to Shakya Mingchen, indicating his consent. Then, Shakya Mingchen, knowing that the Bhagavan had consented by remaining silent, bowed his head to the feet of the Bhagavan, departed from the Bhagavan's presence, and then had houses built suitable for the sick and also had medicine placed there. He placed comfortable medicine suitable for the time, comfortable medicine suitable for the amount, seven-day medicine, medicine to be kept until the end of life, as well as root medicine, stem medicine, leaf medicine, flower medicine, and fruit medicine. He also placed boiled ghee and unboiled ghee. He also placed boiled sesame oil and unboiled sesame oil. Sheep and buffalo.

Even vehicles were allowed to be placed. All utensils were also allowed to be placed. Medicines and sick care were also allowed to be placed, and all utensils were offered to the monks. The group of six said, 'Friends, near-joy, we should find a way to obtain such food and drink.' They asked the doctor, 'Good-looking one, please see what illness we have.' The doctor thought, 'These are lazy ascetics, and because they want to eat, I should say something that agrees with them.' So he said to them, 'Noble ones, you are people who have gathered due to fatigue, so please apply ointment, and then drink some thick beverage afterwards.' They said, 'Friends, near-joy, this is a great doctor, skilled in the root of disease and treatment, and is needed by the king. If all of us start doing this at the same time, it will be completed quickly. First, two people will apply ointment, and four will provide sick care.' After that, again two people will apply ointment, and four will provide sick care. After that, again two people will apply ointment, and four will provide sick care. 'Let's do it that way.' When two of them started applying ointment and four were providing sick care, A month passed. After that, another two people started applying ointment and four were providing sick care, and two months passed. After that, again another two people started applying ointment and four were providing sick care, and three months passed. On the fourth month, everyone gathered together and started eating and drinking, and after four months, Shakya Mingda invited the Blessed One to the Nirvana commemoration day, and Near-Joy sent a message to the cook saying, 'Good-looking one, today make me meat, meat juice, and meat dishes.' The cook said, 'Noble ones, four months have passed, and Shakya Mingda has invited the Blessed One to the Nirvana commemoration day, and your work is still not finished?' Near-Joy said, 'The stingy Shakya Mingda, with a very big mouth, offers all kinds of utensils to the Buddha and the Sangha of monks for four months. If he offers the Buddha and the Sangha of monks in this way,

If it is permissible to invite, I would gladly invite the Sangha of monks, including the Buddha, for as long as life lasts. He said, "Even if you eat only meat and broth for four months, if you are reproached for it, then those elders who have not even eaten a single arura fruit for four months are truly doing what is difficult." Having said this, he reproached, "Why are a few monks so greedy?" and engaged in reproach, slander, and abuse. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One instructed, "Therefore, a monk should not be excessively greedy, for excessive greed will lead to a grave offense." Then, the Blessed One, as before, stipulated: A monk should accept an invitation for four months. If he accepts more than that, it is a downfall. Individual invitations, repeated invitations, timely invitations, and long-term invitations are exceptions, because it is a special occasion. The place was Sravasti, the people were the group of six monks, the affliction was greed for food, and the fault was excessive greed for invited food. Among them, "monk" refers to the holder of this Dharma. "Four months" refers to not exceeding four months. "Accepting an invitation" refers to agreeing. "Should accept" refers to promising. "More than that" refers to exceeding that limit. "It is a downfall" refers to as before. "Individual invitation" refers to inviting different monks separately. "Repeated invitation" refers to inviting a monk repeatedly. "Timely invitation" refers to strongly inviting a monk. "Long-term invitation" refers to permanently inviting a monk. "Except" refers to excluding. "Because it is a special occasion" refers to the reason for establishing the training, which is in accordance with what is permitted.
