After extinguishing the central lamp, they said, "Ogre, ogre!" Those people closed the door, opened the lamps in the four corners of the fire room, grabbed him, and began to beat him. He said, "Charka, O Charka!" Those people said, "Do you think that if you say that Charka is our friend in your heart, we will let you go? We will not let you go until the warmth of death has subsided." Those people also said, "O you who are alive, even killing a non-human being is a great offense, so we have confessed and repented of our sins. Beat him on the buttocks!" Those people beat him on the buttocks like that, and Charka was washed clean and returned to his dwelling. The next day, he rubbed his body with oil and lay on the bed. The monks said to him, "O you who are alive, Charka, what is wrong with you?" Charka said, "O you who are alive, just making a small joke has resulted in such a punishment. What happened?" He told the story in detail. The monks said to him, "Are you allowed to hate monks? It is precisely because you should not hate that such a punishment has occurred." Having said that, some monks scolded Charka for hating monks, and attacked and insulted him in various ways. At that time, the monks reported this matter to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, as before, again ordained: "Any monk who hates a monk, or allows hatred, or even just thinks of making a joke, commits a downfall." The place was Shravasti, the person was Charka, the affliction was jealousy, and the offense was hating a monk. Among them, "which monk" refers to Charka, or anyone else like him. "To that monk" refers to the person of this doctrine. "Does he hate" refers to himself. "Allows hatred" refers to others. "Even just thinking of making a joke" means that even just thinking of making a joke is the same. "Commits a downfall" means as before. Here is the actual downfall.

The establishment is as follows: A Bhikshu, even if intending to make a joke, or first arising with anger, wishing to intimidate, first stating fearful things, causing displeasure. For example: saying there are hungry ghosts, or meat-eaters, or pot-bellied ghosts, or a rotting body, ugly black flies, or charcoal, or a burnt pillar, sounds like a lion, or a tiger, or a tiger, or a wolf, or an eagle, or the sea, or the sound of a fox. Smells like feces, or urine, or blood, or the stench of blood. Sensations like burning, or cold, or the sensation of being whipped, etc., saying these are right here. The Bhikshu himself makes the other person understand, or allows others to make the other person understand, fear may arise, or may not arise, except only for the purpose of making someone disgusted, it becomes the basis for the downfall of intimidation. The agent of this matter is: wanting to intimidate, and displeasure itself. This has six branches that become a real downfall: whether intending to make a joke, or the thought of first arising with anger; wanting to intimidate itself; fearful unpleasant things; the object to be intimidated is the Bhikshu himself; oneself or others make the other person understand; and the other person may or may not feel fear. If these branches are not complete, then there are minor offenses accordingly. The downfall of intimidation is the sixty-sixth. The basis for the downfall of concealment is: The Buddha Bhagavan lived in Shravasti, in Jeta Grove Anathapindika's Garden. At that time, the Venerable Great Maudgalyayana's son, for the attendants Ananda and others, the Sarvastivada school's seventeen young Bhikshu assembly, shaved their heads and gave them full ordination. They relied on the six groups of Bhikshus, served, and respected them. A patron invited the Buddha and other Bhikshu Sangha to another house for a meal, the Buddha and other Bhikshu Sangha left. The six groups of Bhikshus and the seventeen groups of Bhikshus followed behind. On the road there was a pond filled with water, the six groups of Bhikshus

They said to the seventeen groups: "Hey, you seventeen groups, if you and we are going to compete, come and see who can stay in the water longer." They said, "Let's do it that way." Having said that, they all entered the water. Nears Delight came out of the water and hid the clothes of the seventeen groups under a pile of earth. The six groups quickly came out of the pond, put on their clothes, and left. When the seventeen groups came out of the water, the six groups were nowhere to be seen. They thought, "We must not be defeated by them." So they entered the water again. They came out of the water again and looked around, but the six groups were still nowhere to be seen. They thought, "They must still be in the water." They said, "Venerable ones, the six groups have hidden the clothes and left." When they realized that the clothes were gone, they said, "Venerable ones, they have deceived us." So they came out of the pond and gathered in one place. At that time, the Venerable Śāriputra and the Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana, with a retinue of five hundred, were wandering in the area of Kosala when they came to that place. The Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana took out their clothes and gave them to them. Then, they entered the community of monks, put on their clothes, and said, "Venerable ones, if our preceptor does not forgive us, our food will be cut off." Why did they say that in such detail? Why did those monks with few desires do that? The monks condemned them, saying, "The monks are hiding the clothes of the monks!" They rebuked them, they slandered them. At that time, the monks reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One said as before, "If any monk hides the bowl, clothes, water strainer, bowl, belt, or any of the living utensils of a monk, nun, novice, or novice nun, unless there is a special reason, he commits a sin of downfall." The place where the precepts were established was Śrāvastī, the people were the six groups of monks, and the affliction was deception.
