Then, in a hurry, wrapping his head with a nearby headscarf, beating the big drum, and watching the dance, many ordinary people gathered and arrived there. The dancer also went there, and after a while, he saw something like the way the gods dance. He thought: Are these people dancing the dance of the gods? Or are they nagas? Or are they yakshas? Or are they gandharvas? Or are they kinnaras? Or are they dancing big-bellied ones? Thinking like this, he felt very surprised. The Six Groups of monks also danced, disguised, and walked away. The dancer thought: Who are these people? So he followed them, kept following them. They entered the grove of light. The dancer sat at the door. After a while, a person named "འཆར་ཀ་" came out of the door while wiping the dirt from his ears. The dancer said to him: Venerable, was it you who danced? འཆར་ཀ་ said: We will make you dislike this. Miser, you can only live by our skills. Dress up like us, wherever you dance, we will go there, we will stop you, so we don't need to send big drums and other instruments. The dancer said: Venerable, that is our livelihood, please forgive us. འཆར་ཀ་ said: If you give us all the income, we will forgive you. He thought: They will stop me again and again, I might as well give it to them. So he gave them all the income and sat there unhappily. After a while, one of his young friends came and asked him: Friend, why are you sitting there unhappily? He said: I have been fined. Who fined you? It was the Shakyaputra monks. Why? He told the story in detail. His friend said: The Shakyaputra monks, the rule of the monks is punishment, the rule of the Brahmins is words. Like this, they also use fines to punish dancers, they condemn, mock, and insult. Monks, why do you, these monks with few desires and contentment, do such unpleasant things? They condemn, mock.

Interruption. When speaking of interruption, the monks petitioned the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One thought thus: Whatever slight fault has occurred is because the monks wore the clothes of householders, therefore monks should not praise the clothes of householders. Having thought thus, as before, if a monk obtains a new garment, he should dye it into three colors, namely blue, red, or maroon, whichever it may be. If a monk obtains a new garment and wears it without dyeing it into three colors, namely blue, red, or maroon, whichever it may be, he commits a downfall. The place was Rajagriha, the persons were the Group of Six, the afflictions were intolerance and desire for gain, the offense was wearing the garment without dyeing it. Among these, "monk" refers to the Group of Six, or anyone else like them. "Garment" refers to any of the seven types of garments, namely wool, linen, fine linen, coarse linen, hemp, cotton-wool fabric, and mixed fabric. "New" refers to two kinds of new, namely newly made and newly obtained. Here, it refers to newly obtained. "Obtaining" means obtaining from others. Dyeing into three colors, namely blue, red, or maroon, whichever it may be. "Blue" refers to indigo itself. "Red" refers to madder. "Maroon" refers to tree bark. "Should dye" means to make the color bad. If a monk obtains a new garment and uses it without dyeing it into three colors, namely blue, red, or maroon, whichever it may be, it means to wear it. "Commits a downfall" means as before. Here, a detailed distinction is made regarding the fundamental downfall: If a monk obtains a new garment, or even an old garment that is in season, if he obtains a newly obtained garment, except for garments obtained from other sanghas, or garments stolen from other laypeople that have already been dyed maroon, his own garments, even bowl covers, bowl bags, foot mats, belts, and sitting cloths, etc.

If one fully enjoys without changing the color of anything other than the eight great colors, such as blue, red, or maroon, it becomes the basis for the downfall of wearing clothes with unchanged colors. The perpetrator of this is the one who obtains his own clothes, even the cover of a bowl, etc. This has five branches that become the basis of downfall: newly obtained, one's own, clothes, not one of the eight great colors, but blue, red, or maroon without changing the color, and enjoying. If these branches are incomplete, then blame accordingly. The downfall of wearing clothes with unchanged colors is the fifty-eighth. The basis for the discussion of the downfall related to the basis of enjoyment is: The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was in Vaishali, residing in the pavilion of the multi-storied house on the bank of the Monkey Pond. The group of six monks put on their lower garments in the morning, took their bowls and robes, and entered Vaishali for alms. In the middle of the road, there were pleasure gardens of the Licchavis of Vaishali. They entered to see them, and as they arrived, they saw various kinds of equipment, bathing tubs, bricks, unguents, toys, sugar, myrobalan, head-washing items, lutes, lamps, mahati, valari, and sugoshaka placed there. They said, "We should sing and dance." They began to sing and dance. The sound of music used in King Shuddhodana's pleasure garden was the sound of music used by Ajatashatru, the king of Magadha, the son of the noble body, on the battlefield. When the Licchavis of Vaishali heard the sound of music, they were frightened and said, "Wise ones, do not ally with the patricide, but come to wage war." They divided the tasks and began to go out. The group of six monks said, "Wise ones, this is just a joke we made, why are you so afraid? Noble ones, did your musical instruments make a sound? We made a sound." They said, "Noble ones, the Licchavis of Vaishali are afraid."
