As they began to prepare for battle, the Six Groups of monks said: Joyful ones, near joyful ones, how long will we live according to the behavior of others? We must live according to our own behavior. We will go and experience the top of the banner of the Great Belly King, the top of the army, and the army arranged for battle. They entered the place of battle preparation and asked: Knowledgeable ones, what are you doing? They said: Holy ones, we are arranging the formation. The Six Groups of monks said: Miserly ones, are you going to put such fake elephants on this side? Throw it away. They grabbed the tusks of those elephants and threw them to one side. Are you going to put such lame horses on this side? Throw it away. They grabbed the tails of those horses and threw them to one side. Are you going to put such broken chariots on this side? Throw it away. They grabbed the axles of those chariots and threw them to one side. Are you going to put such lame people on this side? Throw it away. They grabbed the necks of those people and threw them to one side. The Six Groups of monks sat down in front of the mountain rock, not far away, and made a whooshing sound. They thought: The mountain rock is going to be thrown out of the fortress. Feeling afraid and hateful, they began to flee. The Six Groups of monks quickly rushed to the market leaders and said: Knowledgeable ones, why are you fleeing? They said: Holy ones, the mountain rock is going to be thrown out of the fortress. Then, the Blessed One, as before, made the rule: Monks, even if you stay in the army for two days, if you disturb the formation, or experience the essence of the flag, or the essence of the army, or watch the army on the battlefield, you commit a downfall. The place is Shravasti. The people are the group of six monks. The affliction is untamed. The offense is experiencing the components of the army even after staying in that army for two days. Among them, what is "monk"? It is the group of six monks or others like them. What is "two days"? It is within two days.
