Possessing wisdom, possessing the Dharma of a noble person, possessing the signs of a wise person, being very patient, tamed, and wealthy. Since even a virtuous friend is very difficult to find, what need is there to mention listening to the sacred Dharma and contemplating it? Thus, these two verses, through the rarity of the path of accumulation, and the necessity of making it fruitful, explain that the path of accumulation must be fruitful. Because the path of accumulation has been obtained, in order to make the path of accumulation fruitful, the appearance of the Buddha in the world, being a human and fully ordained, the perfection of discipline, and the difficulty of finding a good friend, having been obtained. One verse was spoken: "The appearance of the Buddha in the world," which means that the wealth of others has been obtained. "Being a human," means that one's own wealth has been obtained. "Fully ordained," means that the desire for virtuous Dharma has been obtained. "The perfection of discipline," means the discipline of the precepts, the discipline of the senses, knowing the measure of food, and striving to not sleep in the upper and lower parts of the night, and acting with mindfulness. "The difficulty of finding a good friend, having been obtained," means that a virtuous friend has been obtained, listening to and contemplating the sacred Dharma, without obstacles, increasing generosity, and obtaining the adornment of a renunciate. Thus, this one verse, through obtaining the path of accumulation, and the necessity of making it fruitful, explains that the path of accumulation must be fruitful. Because the path of accumulation has been obtained, through the means of effort, in order to make the path of accumulation fruitful, the wise are well-intentioned towards me, those who want to make it fruitful, those who strive in discipline, for the sake of listening to individual liberation, should strive. One verse was spoken: "The wise," refers to possessing the signs of a wise person, doing good deeds with the body, speaking good words with the mouth, and thinking good thoughts with the mind. "Well-intentioned towards me," refers to oneself.

It is a synonym for "knowing." The phrase "desiring to make them fruitful" means desiring to make those paths of accumulation fruitful, that is, desiring to obtain the path of joining and the path of purification. The phrase "those who are diligent in discipline" refers to those who have renounced the world. Connecting "they should strive to listen to individual liberation" to it, it means striving to listen, receive, remember, and practice. Thus, this single verse shows how to make the paths of accumulation fruitful through the gate of diligence in obtaining the paths of accumulation. To show the practice of individual liberation by one's own power, it is said, "A monk who subdues the senses is all-powerful." The phrase "subduing" means guarding the five senses, such as the eyes, that is, when the eye sees a form, not grasping at the characteristics, not grasping at the secondary characteristics, and not becoming attached or angry. The phrase "all-powerful" refers to abiding in a state of equality, that is, being able to subdue the senses in all situations of the senses, objects, places, times, people, and so on. Therefore, if a monk causes the precepts to decline among the precepts, then because his own thoughts are extremely pure, he should rely on himself and practice individual liberation by his own power through the gate of generating a sense of shame. To show the practice of individual liberation by relying on the power of others, It is said, "The Buddha renounced the world without turning back." The term "Buddha" can be connected to "for the Buddha" or "renouncing the world for the sake of the Buddha." The phrase "without turning back" means being determined and without error, not renouncing the world out of fear of debt, or fear of lack of livelihood, or fear of the king, but possessing the qualities of correctly receiving the precepts from the very beginning. The phrase "renouncing the world" means having one's head shaved after having received the precepts well from the other shore. Therefore, if a monk causes the precepts to decline among the precepts, then because of having received the precepts well from the other shore, he should rely on others and through the gate of generating a sense of shame
