The word "by" and so on are mentioned. The butcher named Sunda, being tormented by unpleasant signs at the time of death, and being born in hell after death, the venerable Shariputra, seeing this, was very sad, and others say that he was controlled by this event. The word "by" means cause, and can be understood as "by the cause of committing sins," just like "by the cause of rain." To be sad means to experience extreme suffering. For example, when a sinner experiences the result of sin, he regrets and suffers: "How could I, a fool, have engaged in such an inappropriate act?" To illustrate that suffering and misfortune, such as evil words, arise because one is always and everywhere afflicted by sin alone. Here, "also" is said because it is the nature of visible dharma, and the result arises in the present. "Elsewhere" means experiencing the result in another life after being born. "In both" means experiencing the result in both, because of one's own karma, some people are very sad in this life and the next. The venerable Angulimala, Ajatashatru, Devadatta, the water pot, and so on can also be cited as examples here. So, who is it that grieves? It is the "sinner." This refers to accumulating sins, acting badly, and so on in various ways. The word "by" itself means "committing sin." Why? The word "that" indicates that what is done is itself the experience of an unpleasant result. The word "is" is mentioned to show the connection between cause and effect. Whoever sees the unpleasant result as related to oneself sees the sins previously experienced and feels pain in the heart. In the phrase "very sad," the word "very" in the middle is omitted. Alternatively, "sad" refers to being sad in this life, and in the next life, among relatives, among enemies, in solitude, and in non-solitude, and so on. "My merit" refers to the one in Shravasti who is respected by the world, named "Dharmika."

If there is, some say that after he died and was reborn in the heavenly realm, he spoke two verses because of the joy in his heart. I have done meritorious deeds, and knowing this, I am happy and content. Others say: Seeing my pure deeds. Because the fruit is satisfactory, it is said that purity is the purity for good deeds. Holy Deva killed the innocent young Jitari, and also in the retinue of his queen, he made them happy with music and other sounds, until the sounds of heavenly music and so on appeared, and from this he taught. Here, "will rejoice" refers to Holy Deva himself. "Elsewhere" means that he will become glorious. Both are like Anathapindika's alms and Jitari and so on. I have done evil deeds, and I will suffer. Some say that this is because Holy Deva and his retinue were burned to death by fire, shouting and dying, and were reborn in hell, and from this they spoke two verses. Others say that it was spoken from Devadatta. What is the difference between suffering and sorrow? The suffering of the mind is sorrow. The suffering of the five consciousnesses of the body. Or there are two kinds of suffering, the suffering of good destinies and the suffering of bad destinies, which are shown here in order. Or the suffering born from self and others. Or the loss of merit and the accomplishment of sins and so on. Or separation from the holy and meeting with evil people and so on, it should be said like this. These two also fully show the cause of the two sounds of joy and great joy. I have done meritorious deeds, meaning that the queen named Somanasa greatly praised the act of behaving well, became happy, and spoke from being reborn in the heavenly realm. Because it shows that doing evil deeds will cause fear at death, but doing meritorious deeds will not, so it is said that doing evil deeds and so on. When the Bodhisattva was sitting on the Vajra Throne, thirty-six million maras surrounded him.
