If (ན་) cannot purify others, can it not purify oneself either? The answer is: "One's own sins." This means that committing sins with one's own continuum is the same as committing sins oneself, which is accumulating sins oneself. Through intentional actions, etc., one abides in the nature of near accumulation. "Manifestly destroying" means manifestly destroying, exhausting, and tormenting. "Loss of mind" means bad intelligence, which is foolishness. For example, what is it like? "Like a vajra piercing a jewel." This means that, for example, although a vajra is the nature of stone and arises from stone, just as a jeweler uses that stone nature to pierce, destroy, and pulverize a jewel, so too is oneself destroyed by sin. Therefore, for this reason, one should abandon sin, which is what "one with eyes" and so on mean. The Hearers of the Perfectly Complete Buddha with a Crown Protuberance mostly practice pure conduct because they desire happy migrations; as an antidote to this, what was said at the beginning is also said here. Others say that many monks came to the Blessed One's presence and asked, "Venerable One, what should we completely abandon?" It started from that. "One with eyes" means one who has undamaged eyes. "Distress" means one's own impoverished things. For this, lamps and so on fully illuminate what is seen, but even if one with eyes has no light, how can one abandon distress? Therefore, this is to walk on the path, meaning that if there is aggregation through the cause of making light and so on exist, there will be encounter. For example, one with eyes can see the fearful harms of cliffs and thorns. Showing the example and then showing what is exemplified is called "wise," which means one with intelligence. "The world of livelihood" refers to human life. Because gods have the fault of satiety and bad migrations have the fault of suffering, they do not have this mind. For example, here it says "here," meaning that it is adorned with qualities such as the appearance of a Buddha, correct view, and complete faculties. For example,

Because of having wisdom, one sees that cliffs and thorns cause harm. Like this, one must completely abandon the path where such terrible things are seen. Similarly, the wise also, because of being adorned with the appearance of the Buddha and so on, when born, it becomes sin, that is, the result of falling into the lower realms. To completely abandon is to completely discard. It is taught that associating with sinners should be abandoned, so it is said, "The wealthy one," and so on. Starting from the robbers waiting on the road, son of good family, completely abandon sin! For example, it is said, "The merchant and the fearful road," and so on. Others say that these are verses spoken from the questions of the gods. Merchants or wise people abandon in this way. For example, a merchant abandons the road that is frequented by lions and robbers, and is full of fear. For example, a person who has immeasurable wealth will completely abandon having few friends or few attendants, because in this way, a few cannot protect a great mass of wealth. For example, one who desires to live will abandon poison and arsenic and so on. Similarly, one who desires heaven and liberation will also abandon sinners. The three types of examples are for showing reversal, or for abandoning the obstacles of the three types of enlightenment. Also, it is for showing the abandonment of the actions and results of the lower realms, humans, and gods. To show that what has not been done is sin, it is said, "If the palm," and so on. In Rajagriha, there was a person named Kakuta Mitra, who, having become very old, repented from sin, and it started from there. "If there is not" means if it does not exist. "Wound on the palm" refers to what is said on the palm of the hand. "Even if the hand grasps poison," means that even if one fearlessly takes poisons such as Badsanava, Shringi, Halahala, etc., with the hand, it will not be harmed. Why? Because it is shown by "Poison does not penetrate without a wound," without a wound, it will not enter and arise, but if one relies on despised sin, it will spread. Similarly, there is no sin in what has not been done.
