It is said that the view of afflictions is like darkness. This is said in order to teach beings to strive for correct views. If someone asks, "Who will see similarities and hear?" the answer is, "Seeing similarities does not see (the truth)." This is because what appears to be seen is not actually certain, because the uncontaminated view of suffering, etc., has not been seen. If (the truth) is seen, similarities will not be seen. That is, if suffering, etc., is seen through seeing the uncontaminated view, then at that time the nature that appears to be a view will not be seen. Why? Because here the reason for explaining the nature of Dharma is explained. This view does not see similarities. That is, by seeing suchness, non-seeing is not seen, but the meaning is definitely touched and obtained, otherwise it is not the meaning. It is said that "This person is suchness, seeing similarities is not seeing," meaning that it cannot be determined by clinging to self. It is said that "The person who sees similarities does not see," meaning that even worldly states cannot see, meaning that people do not see suchness. Because worldly views are very coarse and truth is very subtle. A god asked in the form of a verse, "If a person does not see what, will he see similarities?" The answer is, "What things are not seen?" meaning that suchness is not seen. People are people, and they will see beings and self, etc. If what is seen, similarities will not be seen? That is, if what is understood, what appears to be a view will not be seen. How can similarities be seen here? That is, how can one see something that is like an image of a true thing? In this way, similarities that are self-natured, such as the view of the collection of destruction, will not be seen. If something is missing, will one be separated from seeing similarities? That is, from what exists, will similarities be abandoned? Here, the Blessed One replied, "When this person sees suffering." This means that when a yogi has not realized the truth of suffering. At that time, (similarities) will be seen. It means that the truth of suffering cannot be distinguished separately.

Oh! "Seeing as self" means following afflictions, because of clinging to self and so on. "How, how does one realize suffering" means directly knowing the truth of suffering as it is. "Therefore, one will not see such a self" means that this yogi will not speculate about things that do not exist, nor will he destroy things that do exist. "Who, by obscuring individual births, does not see the suffering of formations" means who is obscured by ignorance and so on. Obscuring means covering. Individual births refers to the births of ordinary people. Although formations and so on are meanings of extreme suffering and so on, they are not recognized as suffering itself. "Therefore, this is a similar view" means that precisely because of this, one engages in views such as the view of the perishable aggregate. "If there is no that" means that if one abandons the obscuration of ignorance, one will be separated from all wrong views. The chapter on views, the explanation of the twenty-seventh, is completed. Because pure views precede turning away from evil and entering into good conduct, the chapter on evil is taught after that, namely, "If there is no that, one will not see similarity." In order to abandon clinging to self in the chapter that was just taught, and views that fault suffering and so on, by observing how, how correctly, thereby correctly accomplishing things, therefore "all evils" and so on were spoken. For twelve years, there was no fault in the teachings of the Blessed One Shakyamuni, and at first he spoke three verses of individual liberation to the Shravakas. Two of them are occasions of conformity, so they have already been taught in the chapter on good conduct. Or, the two hundred and fifty training rules established by the Blessed One, because there are so many, who can protect them? In order to eliminate this distracted mind, it is said that they were established for the sake of those monks who are able to uphold and enter into them. There are two kinds of discipline, namely the difference between entering and returning. Among them, taking the discipline of returning as the main point, namely, "Do not commit all evils," this refers to all objects.
