This is expressed by the word "to do." To show that faith in the Three Jewels is related to the virtues such as the path of liberation. Mentioning "each month" etc. "Each month" means one month. Regarding "the tip of the kusha grass," kusha is darbha, which is a type of grass that is considered auspicious. Its tip is the finest, like the tip of a needle. Thus, in each month of the year, performing twenty fire offerings each day, and after the fire offering, taking twenty-one grains of cooked rice with the tip of the kusha grass and eating them. Similarly, it is said that the ascetic who drinks a drop of water, his body will become sharp and burning. "He cannot bear it" means eating food with the tip of the kusha grass. "Faith in the Buddha" means trusting in the realm of the Buddha. "Also" does not belong to any part. Why? Because "sixteen" is mentioned, which is known in the world as the smallest component of matter. Unwavering faith in the Buddha brings endless or satisfying rewards. How can it be like eating with the tip of the kusha grass? "Faith in the sacred Dharma" refers to the correct explanation of liberation and its path. "Faith in the Sangha" refers to the sacred assembly, the sacred root, or the path of learning and non-learning that abides in the lineage of the Shravakas. To show that relying on faith in the Three Jewels. Mentioning "compassion for sentient beings." Loving-kindness towards sentient beings is a way of thinking that liberates them from suffering, which is spoken of in samsara. In order to keep the word in a general form and to show its particularity, mentioning "compassion for living beings." Living beings are those who have life. Those beings born in the desire realm and the three dhyanas, because they have breath. "Compassion for beings" is because they have breath. To show the remaining realms.

Beings are shown to be those who abide in the three realms, such as the realm of desire. What is shown here is a distinction of compassion. Why not loving-kindness? It is explained: Because it is the main thing. Because it is what liberates from suffering, but not loving-kindness. Loving-kindness is the mind that benefits others; the mind that is completely held by it is loving-kindness. For example, one should look at this sutra, which says that a person gives three hundred coins in alms every day. Only two are taken from among the immeasurables, because they are the main means of doing things for others. Because loving-kindness is thinking of others, compassion is doing it. It is explained that the root of these two is correct knowledge. It is said that the sacred Dharma of numbers, number is the collection, the complete cutting off. The mind that meditates on the Dharma with undefiled wisdom, whatever that mind is, this follows the previous verse, as it is said, having seen impermanence, one sees detachment, therefore that is a great deal of merit. Eating with the tip of a kusha grass, faith in the Buddha, etc., is not only meaningless, but also in accordance with offerings. To show this, it is said "monthly" and so on. King Clear made great offerings in this way, and for the sake of offerings, he erected ten thousand offering pillars, and also piled up and placed many foods, drinks, and objects of charity. Then, many monks came in the morning, and recited nine verses. "Thousand" is what is taught in the Sutra of Auspicious Signs. Others say karshapana. Some say a thousand times. A hundred years is a hundred seasons. Offering is offering and making offerings, and if done in this way, one will be born and abide among the hosts of gods. The remainder is as before. "A little" means all times and all places and all

English

All that exists is called all. Offering means that which is done from the desired object. That itself is offering preceded by worship, or service preceded by manifest desire, giving to the field of whatever is given to Brahmins and ascetics, etc. This shows both offering and fire offering. Fire offering is fire offering preceded by giving. "In the world" means going, that is, achieving the happiness of those in samsara. This is the seventh reason. "For a hundred years" means a hundred seasons. What is it? It is the person who desires merit. It means that because one desires merit, it is merit. Any sentient beings who perform merit, etc. The former showed the field and the thought, and this speaks of the doer. "That is not enough" means by fire offerings and offerings, etc. "Even a quarter" means that one does not obtain a portion equal to a quarter part. What is it? "Prostration to that" means that because it makes manifest facing towards qualities, therefore prostration is first and foremost, and offerings, etc., are prostration. Or, to show respect to the Three Jewels. Who prostrates? It is said, "Will become possessed of an upright mind." Deceit, etc., is the fault of a mind that is not upright, and the absence of that is the attainment of uprightness. Being endowed with that is abiding. As long as one is free from the faults of the mind and all deceit, one is of an upright nature, that is, a virtuous being, or, towards the Three Jewels, that is, towards the Buddha, generating the root of virtue will not be exhausted in samsara, by these words. It is also taught in other sutras: "Whatever bhikshu is endowed with morality, possesses the Dharma of the root of virtue, fully enjoys alms, has realized and perfected the samadhi of immeasurable mind with his body, giving to him, the merit of the benefactor will arise immeasurably," and so on. The collection of comparisons, that is, the explanation of the twenty-fourth is complete. To be diligent in listening to and teaching the sacred Dharma, etc., is not for noble beings.
