Also. There are two types of impermanence: continuous impermanence and momentary impermanence. This is to show the body used in the desire realm. "Knowing the two" means realization. What is cut off by the sword of the path, which arises from the power of the collection of paths, is abandonment. "Here" refers to this world. If you ask what is to be cut off? Then it is said, "The supreme flower of Mara," which has become a tool of the Mara of afflictions, like the flower of the Sala tree, such as the form of a child, etc., with that as the object, afflictions are abandoned. Or, the accompanying afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, because it is the first to be abandoned, so it is the supreme flower. By abandoning it, one will surely attain Nirvana without delay. To show this, it is said, "The King of Death also goes without seeing." It means that the lord named Death also cannot see, that is, goes to Nirvana without remainder. "Like a bubble" refers to this body created by actions preceded by wisdom, confirmed by the metaphor of a pot, and here it is also shown that it arises from conditions. Mixed with wind, having the limbs of wind is a bubble. Just as a bubble is, the body also exists by relying on wind. Without wind, the body will also perish. Like a cluster of bubbles, because it has no essence, it is unbearable. Not only is the body like that, but to show that the five aggregates are also like that, it is said, "Like a bubble is the world." The five aggregates of clinging are the world, because it is said in the sutra, "The accumulation of suffering is the world, and the place of seeing and existence are also those." Thus, because it is like a bubble, holding the body and the world, it shows two ways of entering. Therefore, by fully observing one aspect of the aggregates, one enters the noble path with impurity, etc. The world is entered after fully observing all the aggregates. Because both the body and the world have no essence, therefore, to show this, it is said, "Like the Udumbara flower," etc. The Blessed One.

Having passed by the great Lake Anavatapta, seated on a lotus seat, and seeing the Udumbara forest nearby, he spoke to the monks: 'Just as the Udumbara flower is difficult to find, so too, seeing that there is no essence in samsara, one will be liberated from birth and old age.' And so on. He spoke this verse: 'That which is without essence,' refers to a wise person, but even they do not understand. Where is it? There is no essence in existence. Beings are perishable, because they seek objects of desire and attachment, but cannot find them. Is it like a blind person who cannot see anything? He replied: 'Think like the Udumbara flower.' That is to say, just as the Udumbara flower, except when a Buddha or a Chakravartin appears, even if sought by great afflictions, that flower cannot be found, so too, even if one thinks and seeks, one will not understand, it should be understood in this way. 'That monk abandons,' means that the renunciate who has abandoned distraction and so on, sees that all of samsara is without essence, enters the assembly of the path, and thereby completely abandons. What is it? The other shore that is not the other shore. It means this shore, which is the five aggregates of attachment. 'The path' should be fulfilled by the path, because without the path, there is no way to abandon existence. In order to show an example here, it is shown by 'an old snake shedding its old skin.' For example, a snake in the spring, its old skin becomes worn out, producing many holes, and having enjoyed it for a long time, because it is without essence, it completely abandons its skin, similarly, a yogi abandons because he is tormented by harms such as transformation, and because the other shore that is not the other shore is without beginning, so it becomes old and aged. If one first thoroughly examines that there is no essence in samsara, and if a perception of displeasure arises towards all the world, then he will abandon all afflictions, in order to show this, he said, 'lotus root' and so on.

It is unnecessary to mention. When the Venerable Kunga Rapba, named Gandaka, entered the mud and quickly took out lotuses, the Blessed One, for the sake of the disciples of that time, spoke six verses. "Whoever" refers to a particular type of monk. "Cutting off all desires" means completely removing craving, which is the fifteen forms of the three realms. How is it removed? "Like a flower from the root" refers to a lotus that grows from the root of a lotus, like one that is taken out by a garland maker. If someone asks, does it also grow like this on dry land? The answer is, "water-born" is mentioned, because it is born from water, so it is water-born, which is different from growing on dry land. "Water place" refers to a lotus lake, which is formed by the place. For example, someone enters a lotus grove and takes out a lotus that is pleasing and desirable, similarly, by entering the noble path into one's own continuum, like desiring to remove ignorance and the afflictions close to it, cutting off desires and so on, and removing them from the root. Only in this way can one completely uproot samsara and abandon all existence, and not in any other way. Hatred is the thought of harming others and anger, which is indicated by the word "tiger." All five of these aspects are to be abandoned by seeing and meditating on suffering and so on, and because they are practiced in desire. The rest is easy to understand. The explanation of the eighteenth chapter of the Garland of Flowers is completed. Just as one takes a lotus from a lotus grove, who can abandon all desires and so on? It is said: For example, someone enters a lotus grove and takes out a lotus that is pleasing and desirable, similarly, by entering the noble path into one's own continuum, like desiring to remove ignorance and the afflictions close to it, cutting off desires and so on, cutting off their results, and removing them from the root, only in this way can one completely uproot the root of samsara, and not in any other way. Those who are weary of samsara, and those who have faith and so on.
