Not paying attention to it. Using the function of the great cloud, a metaphor is made here for those who are not in meditative stabilization. After showing the mind's solitude, the body's solitude is explained. Speaking from a state of dwelling, it means dwelling in a solitary place such as under a tree. Its result is freedom from dust, which means freedom from desire. Showing that one dwells happily in the present dharma is the mind. Because of obtaining the noble lineage, it is to show the solitude of the mind. It speaks of things like holding a rag robe. After that, a certain royal family saw in a dream that they were born in hell, and asked why they were born here because of their improper conduct. The best of prisons, being in a vase, is caused by impropriety. By wasting the wealth of others, one will be clothed with molten copper garments. Harsh words are pounded into powder with a pestle, and harm is done by gathering and beating. With divisive speech, seeing things like saws, one becomes disgusted. Going before the Blessed One, after ordaining and going to the monastery, holding a rag robe, sitting on a grass mat, how long can one be free from the desire of the three realms, and making it one's own, these words are spoken. Any clothes that have been eaten by mice, etc., are discarded in places like rag heaps, and falling into a rag heap is a rag robe. Taking it, washing, sewing, dyeing, etc., completely combining and holding it, is holding a rag robe, which shows contentment with even a slightly worn dharma robe. Knowing shame means having shame, showing contentment with even a slight amount of alms. Those who have shame do not beg for clothes etc. from others, and food is not for them, because seeking it for the sake of benefit is a blameworthy thing, and is shameless. Here, one does not seek for the sake of benefit either, which shows that one does not seek abundance. The so-called not looking at desires means abandoning special attachment to all desires, which shows delight in practicing abandonment. The so-called dwelling under trees shows contentment with even a slight dwelling place. Also, the so-called holding a rag robe etc. shows in order the taming of body and mind, and the solitude of body and mind.

Explaining how to cultivate the lineage of the noble ones. Such as "What is suffering," and so on. Furthermore, a certain ascetic, wishing to be liberated through severe asceticism, saw him completely prostrating on four kinds of thorns from four directions, and then proclaimed the Four Noble Truths, and after that, said these. The path is the method of liberation. To cultivate well means to rely well, so what is it to rely well on? It is the eightfold noble path, which possesses the eight limbs without outflows. So what is it like? It is called upright because it is on the side of happiness and so on, and it is the only way to proceed. Tranquility is because it is the method of pacifying fire, just as it is seen. Or, why is it called noble? Because it is upright, that is, without outflows. Why are there eight limbs? Because in this way it is tranquility, that is, auspicious. Right view and so on are the eight limbs. For what purpose is this cultivated? It is to abandon all suffering. The fruit of the noble path is that there is no place to be born, and to show this, it is said, "In what place a little," and so on. After that, many Brahmins gathered together, and from the assembly, the Blessed One sat and was praised, and from afar, the venerable Maudgalyayana saw, and for his sake, said this verse. "In what place" refers to sentient beings. "Abiding" means completely holding and completely grasping. "A little not" means in any place. Or, "place" refers to the place of birth, that is, there is not a little in any place. Or, what is the place that is completely held by, that is craving. "All-knowing" is because one has obtained the wisdom of exhaustion and non-arising, so that is without a place. In what order does one possess all-knowing? It is said: it is called "hesitation," because one has abandoned the doubt of the path of seeing. "Without thorns" is because one is separated from all afflictions through cultivation. "Obtaining the state of immortality," this is to obtain the nirvana with remainder. To show that only the path can tame the mind. Whatever body

It is said that "there is not," and so on. What is subdued by subduing, everything will be subdued? This was spoken after being asked by the charioteer. Going far away is not obtaining what is held, because of holding distant places and locations. The so-called "wandering alone" refers to entering one by one, and is explained by the words "the continuum of mind in this life is one." Having no body means having no form. Dwelling in a cave means relying on name and form, because in the two realms one relies on form, and in the formless realm one relies on similar mind and life. Difficult to tame means being tamed because of difficulty, because of going far away and so on. If one obtains a tamed mind, one will obtain nirvana, and in order to show this, it is said "what has no form" and so on. Then, a Brahmin named Brahma's Life came before the Blessed One and said this: Venerable one, what state is realized to become a true Brahmin? After asking this, this verse was spoken. For what has no form, that is without form because of the eleven bases. Invisible means that it cannot be definitely indicated as "this is this," because there is no such analogy and it does not appear. Infinite means reaching the end, like the sky pervading everything. The so-called very invisible means difficult to realize. Subtle means transcending the senses and so on. The basis that is not harmed by the harm of birth and so on is the place called nirvana. Manifest realization means manifestly realizing as it is by knowing cessation. Conduct means conducting for the benefit of other worlds. The nature of the Dharma that is completely undiminished is explained. The so-called constant mindfulness refers to the memory that does not diminish, abiding without interruption. The so-called exhaustion of all bonds means abandoning afflictions together with their imprints. This shows the perfection of abandonment, and the perfection of wisdom is shown by the Buddha. It was said what is cut off and becomes subdued. It was said "what is like a blade of grass" and so on. There were two Brahmins who recited the Vedas, arrogant and haughty because of their lineage.
