It is said, "The beginning of creation." People act in desire. Bondage is affliction, because it binds to this and that difference of suffering. "Transcending the bonds of the gods," refers to transcending the afflictions that act in the form and formless realms, and the afflictions that correspond to them. "Completely separated from all bonds," refers to being separated from the four bonds. It is shown that there is no destination by abandoning bonds, that is, "whoever is a god," and so on. The Blessed One explained the differences of the five destinies, at which point another monk rose from his seat and said, "Venerable one, a certain monk has passed away. Where will his destination be?" After asking this, the Blessed One replied thus. Not knowing whose destination is because of complete nirvana. The destination of nirvana is expressed by the word Arhat. Who is not known? That is, gods, gandharvas, humans, among which gods refer to Indra and so on. Gandharvas refer to the musicians of the gods such as Supriya. Humans refer to the wheel-turning king and so on. Not knowing the destination means that it is impossible to know the destination of this person. Why is that? Just like this, it is said to be peaceful, because it is peaceful due to nirvana, it is nirvana without remainder. Who does not know the destination and peace? It is said, "Who with all dharmas," and so on. A Brahmin observes in this way and says in this way: knowledge is of no use to anyone, why is that? Because knowledge seems to be painful to many people, until he is placed under its control. I say that I have not understood one dharma, and I have not directly seen it, therefore I will not fully understand it, broadly speaking, just like this, any Brahmin eats by begging from home. Similarly, any happiness or suffering that is truly experienced here is also produced from one's own karma, therefore this verse was spoken. "Not knowing" means not understanding, not truly comprehending, and is related to "who with all dharmas is extinguished." "When not seen" means not directly seen.

It should be said, with complete understanding of worldly and transworldly knowledge and abandonment, or without abiding, or abiding, and so forth. This saying shows that as long as a person does not know, then he has no happiness and no cause of happiness, because he dwells in the darkness of universal ignorance, experiencing only suffering, like a blind man. Whoever knows does not bring suffering. As it is said: What is the use of relying on what is not in accordance with happiness? What is the use of doing what is not a good result? What is the use of a friend who does not enter into goodness? What is the use of knowledge that cannot eliminate suffering? The mother of knowledge is like a great tree, Like the eye and the wish-fulfilling jewel. Therefore, from this arise, Merit, sons, and so on. Whatever does not enter into worldly affairs, That is called worldly delusion. Whatever obstructs seeing, That cannot be called a lamp. It is like this that is said. If asked: Does one who knows know, and one who sees see? The so-called "knowledge of the infinite to be seen," That is to say, this has the attitude of seeing infinite and inconceivable knowledge and what is to be known. As it is said: Immaculate patience is not knowledge, The wisdom of cessation and non-arising is not seeing. That is to say, with the difference of person and faculty, what is to be known is infinite, and knowledge is of ten kinds. What are those infinite knowledges? It is the so-called "past dwelling" and so on. A Brahmin said to the Blessed One and others: By what conduct is one to act, By what merits and deeds, By what Dharma does one increase and possess, By what can one be known as an Arhat Brahmin? This is where it starts. Others, such as the three non-learnings and the three knowledges, are briefly said to be three verses. The time of dwelling in past lives is the past dwelling. Realizing it is knowing as it is. Having shown the knowledge of the past, now the knowledge of the future is to be explained. It is mentioned that "going to the good realms," The so-called "will happen" is the remainder of the sentence, that is, the good realms and the bad realms. The so-called "seeing" is seeing with the divine eye. Then there is "obtaining a good birth." The so-called "obtaining a good birth" is obtaining a good birth, that is, birth.
