Having gone to that food offering place without clothes, he said, "Oh, the children want to go outside," and so on, taking them outside, etc., very extensively. Having seen the face of the Bhagavan and heard the Dharma, he obtained the fruit of stream-entry, and from that, he spoke these words. "Abandoning" means completely abandoning. Desire refers to objects such as form. "Good" refers to the antidote that is not inverted. Its antidote is to renounce the household. Renunciation is to fully uphold the benefit of beings and the attainment of benefit. Apart from that, there is no separation from the distraction caused by objects. "The exhaustion of the outflows of desire" means that by relying on ethics, through the power of tranquility and insight, all the afflictions of desire are abandoned. Here, it indicates the state of non-return. If one becomes detached from desire, then one will become harmless, thus it is shown. "The goer" and so on are mentioned. The chief minister of King Mingyal, named Maka, who was fierce and without hesitation, went before the Bhagavan. In order to tame him, the Bhagavan also emanated beings who were born in hell for a short time by magical illusion, and now they are being oppressed from their hands by Kha and Kurala and others, and they are uttering pitiful cries. Having seen that, he became disgusted. When the Bhagavan asked, "What have you done?" he replied, "I have done the work of inflicting the king's punishments." After he replied in that way, he became frightened and renounced, and from that, these words were spoken. "Not punishing" means abandoning and forsaking. Punishment is harm. To whom? To beings, that is, to the world. To whom? "The goer" is mentioned, that is, to those with life. "The abiding" means without mind. As it is said, "Even a burning stump should not be harmed by the mind, let alone a sentient being." Just as if one were to use a stationary poison like a traveler's poison, it would kill, so if one harms these two travelers, it will harm the doer.

And again, it is said. The poison of going and staying, behavior will surely bind, and likewise, it is harming. The harmer himself will surely be harmed. Thus it is said. What is it that is not allowed to be cut off by punishment? Do not allow the killer to be killed. This is to say, because one does not kill others with one's own and others' hands. Nor is it allowed to kill others, nor does one kill oneself. The nature of the thought of non-harming is spoken. It speaks of "whoever is discordant" and so on. Subduing the heretics with great miracles, thereby relying on the borderlands. And at that time, the venerable Sukha-kara lived there. From the time he put on his robes in the morning, no matter how the Brahmins, jealous by nature, changed, he did not become angry. Others say that it started with a mendicant who was close to peace. Others say that it started with someone who did not change even when extremely tormented by others. The so-called "harmonizer," discord is quarreling. The absence of that means a gentle continuum. To whom is there discord? It is said, "discord," to those who quarrel. The so-called "cutting off with punishment" is the very cutting off with punishment, that is, harming other sentient beings with body and speech. The so-called "acceptance" is not to inflict punishment separately on sentient beings, but to abide, and here the Jataka of the Buffalo is taken as an example. Here, to show the cause of both. It is shown by "loving and benefiting beings," and achieving eminence and surely perfecting is benefit. Loving-kindness is having compassion in one's heart, and it arises towards limitless sentient beings. What is the harmonizer? Here it says, "on the tip of a bamboo shoot," that is, a monk who likes solitude, and does not dwell on worldly desires and hatred, etc., and gain and respect, it starts from that. Abandoning destruction, because it is removed from the continuum. Here is an example. Like mustard seed on the tip of a bamboo shoot. The so-called "whoever" etc., it starts from the elder Jnana who lives in the forest of Kundana.
